Richmond used pick 17 in the 2017 draft for him and we may have to use ours to pry him off them. We would want Richmonds second rounder back next year.

Was chatting to a mate this morning who knows a fair bit about AFL and Trading and he's advised that trades can and will happen this week - don't be surprised to see some of these trades happen as late as Thursday and most (if not all) will involve current AFL players.

For me, it's important to use pick 17 this year to tick off the first rounder requirement for the AFL.

Can i ask why everyone is so confident on Bing coming next year? Seems like its a bit of pipe dream doesnt it? All the reports were that he was going to see out his contract with the Suns and he is on enormous coin.

I feel like Narkle would be walking into the same situation he was in at Geelong.

Feel he's a good prospect and would like to have him at the club, but he's probably going to be about number 26 or 27 or so on the list. Wouldn't be the best career choice for him when he can go and get a game every week for North or Hawthorn.

A future 2nd is his right value. I much rather we keep Pick 17 and use it to draft a mid

It’s not so valuable in the draft but more so that we have to use a first rounder either this year or next. And next year we are more likely to go for someone else...like Ben king

Not everyone is confident about it.
I think there's a chance it'll happen someday, but I don't see that there's any hurry. He'll come if/when he's ready. If we're up the top, and the Suns aren't, that might mean it happens or happens sooner rather than later - but I'm happy for him to develop his game and character somewhere else then come to us via free agency someday. Doesn't mean we shouldn't check in each year and see if it's a possibility!

We need to use a first to set ourselves up for next year and I certainly don’t rate him as worth a first.

I like him he’d probably be handy for us but you can’t ignore the fact he’s not best 22 at Richmond and probably isn’t in ours just looking at it. If I wanted to trade a first I’d throw it at Stephenson, I really rate him and at 188 and lightening quick I’m backing him in to fire up at a new club especially after glandular fever knocked him around.

There are a lot of trades that need to get done and we don’t have a lot of capital at present so I think we’re in a wait and hope situation now.

PS. If we‘re looking at narkle then I think you can forget Higgins.

I don't have as a first either, i did say a first with there second back which would put his value in the mid 20s? Sounds right to me...

Stephenson, i am neither here, nor there. I value pressure players who contribute and i think Higgins would be a great get and would make our 22 no sweat. I think he will be better then say Jones for example.

Seems pretty clear that we want to keep our first up our sleeves for a "big fish" either this year or next, and as such I don't see us trading out of the first round for Higgins.

If we do trade for him I see it as very likely that we'd swap our first with Richmond's though, then throw in say next year's 2nd.

Higgins had some good midfield numbers in his first season and could be just like Gresh, switching between midfield and forwardline.

He'd be a long-term upgrade on Sincs.

Surely getting rid of Parker and shopping Lonie around and the reports of Hind leaving to the bombers we have a half forward lined up. If the above happen we only really have Kent as a specialist half forward and Butler as the small. I know Gresh can rotate through there and Billings, but relying on Kent isn't the smartest move.

Stephenson would be ideal for this.

The idea of getting higgins is to replace kent- which is ok if higgins comes cheap.
But if he doesn't then we may well be paying good money and trade currency to be bringing in another kent.
Higgins could be a gun or a bust- it's very 50/50.

Stephenson is i think a much higher chance of being an elite upgrade on kent at half forward.

stevo strikes me as the kind of player who could do with a new environment (a non toxic one at that) so he may actually be a good get. A chance if treloar stays. These conflicting reports about unrest in the pies camp re: treloar are making me believe he will stay put.
