Wasn't Bytel in 2018 a second round?
Pick 41

Ben Long?

Pick 41

Ben Long?

I think Battle scrapped into the second round as well the same year

Just to clarify a couple of things.

Bytel was our last player drafted in the second round, at pick 41.

6 Academy selection and a free agency compensation pick knocked our pick back, but technically Bytel was taken in the second round.

Clavarino was taken in the second round with Long and Battle the year before also second round selections.

Incredibly, we've taken 4 second round picks since 2016 even though it feels like we always offload them.

Also, Wilkie is still a rookie, will be upgraded this year I imagine.

Just looked it up and apparently that pick 41 for Bytel was technically a second round pick 😂

Was chatting to a mate this morning who knows a fair bit about AFL and Trading and he's advised that trades can and will happen this week - don't be surprised to see some of these trades happen as late as Thursday and most (if not all) will involve current AFL players.

PM me if you want more info.
Unless you can name your source I reckon this a load of bullshit

I don't have as a first either, i did say a first with there second back which would put his value in the mid 20s? Sounds right to me...

Stephenson, i am neither here, nor there. I value pressure players who contribute and i think Higgins would be a great get and would make our 22 no sweat. I think he will be better then say Jones for example.
A lot of people take that view with points and trades, personally I think it’s a load of crap when it’s a straight up trade.

He‘s a completely different player to jones and won’t play in front of him, he’s a mid/small forward who wants game time. In an ideal world he’d be handy to rotate with Gresham so lonie or Kent miss out assuming both are still there.

Agree, I want Higgins but I'm not sure what else we can offer them. A first seems a bit much

i think the problem is we need to hang onto our first so we can future trade next year. pick is too late this year to split it :-(

makes Gags and Lethers comments very interesting

Improving our half forward line is very much in the 'nice to have' category I reckon.

With both billings and gresh able to play forward more next year with the inclusion of crouch- we won't be as exposed at half forward as we were this year with kent.

Plus higgins is far from certain to be an upgrade on kent or sinclair anyway.

Plus- we're not gonna need half forwards next year anyway.
Steele crouch and gresh will be waltzing the ball out of the centre all day direct to max
