There is no opportunity for a trade to be worked out once a free agent bid has been lodged and matched.

Any trade would need to be thrashed out before any bid was lodged.

If we lodge a formal RFA bid for brad, that means the door is closed on a trade occuring.
From that point, the crows have i think 2 days to match or not.
If they do match, the only option brad has is to stay at the crows or enter the draft.

i think technically if we lodge our offer to sign Brad through FA then once thats lodged the only options are the crows dont match and he becomes a saint or the crows match and he stays a crow , if he then decides not to take the crows offer he becomes an uncontracted free agent and needs to go through the draft ..
i think once the paperwork for FA is lodged by us the only way we can "trade" for him is if the crows sign him up and then deal a trade with us as a contracted player ...

not entirely true, once the paper work is lodged, if adelaide match the deal, he is still a contracted crow but he is coming out of contract. exactly like say Lonie right now.

I do not understand this logic from a few posters here. Crouch straight up becomes our number two midfielder, he's a ball magnet, clearance and tackling machine but if he's not free then nah fk him off back to to the crows...

Am i missing something here? Are we trying to improve our list for a serious crack at a flag or are we playing games trying to outdo dumbass Dodoro?

If the crows push back and match our offer which i think is unlikely as you would think both parties would have something worked out we will be giving up pick 15 and you can say what you like in this space but that's not paying overs, it's unders for a player of his ability. Well unders.

Just because he wants to leave doesn't tie the crows hands. I am sure they will be fine having him on the list for next year OR dealing with other teams who will cough up what they want.

i think a lot of what we are doing is to ensure we have depth to cover gresham. i think they will be very cautious with how they use him given his back issues..

So if Dunkley lands at the Bombers for midfield opportunity, where does that leave Connors and Caldwell? Bet they never told him about this (maybe they didn’t know then) as we did with Crouch.

Wonder if he’s still gettable? Dodoro sounds like he’s going after anyone that moves - how’s he doing to get it all done? According to 3aw the Giants are really unhappy that they’re losing him and that he’s been offered so much for a young player. They’re not going to make it easy for the Bombers.
