Not necessarily disagreeing but what's your thinking behind Hayden being an untouchable?
I'll assume Perez, Mahoney and Comben are excluded from discussion due to 1st year status.
Hard to argue with that grouping.
You could mount a case for Higgins also.
The interesting decision if you went full slash and burn would be who is priority out of Brown and Daw. Brown more dependable year on year and younger but more valuable at the trade table. Not saying I want to trade him (which I don't).
2016 - 10 players gone. The list rebuild should have happened after 2016 but better late than never.
And there's a big thing called a share and property portfolio outside of Footyland that allows that to happen..

2016 - 10 players gone.
2017 - 8 players gone.
2018 - 12 players gone.
2019 - 7 players gone.
37 players in four seasons is nearly a full list.
In that time our tradeable players were who?
Taz, Brown the last season or two, Ziebell as we made him captain, Goldy, Cunners, Higgo, who else? Maybe Jed after his one break out year (2018). As a 24 year old. When you'd think he'd be part of a rebuild.
Dunno what else we could have done.
Last year everyone was on board for a shot at a flag and wanted to give Shaw a run at a full season so obviously wouldn't have traded anyone but before that what could we have seriously done in 2017 and 18 to aid a "proper rebuild?"
Or who else should we have dumped in 2016?
Dumont should be traded. He will get a game at Adelaide. He is one of many plodders at North with ok skills. But he is too slow. If our youth come through, he is out anyway, so lets trade him before he is worthless.

Roll another scoob and go back and read your original reply on this matter.. you're clearly stoned..If players are getting shares or property after they retire, they may be outsmarting the AFL (not hard to do), but what about the government - ATO ?
Be it cash, shares or property, it is still earnings and is taxable at the highest rate.
And you are basically saying, footballers are prepared to risk tax avoidance, which is punishable by hefty fines and in some cases jail, to go to the big clubs, when they can earn less but legal, somewhere else.
Yeah right !
I think this conversation is a little over you and furryballs head...LOL
?? How would things like sponsorship endorsements, token jobs etc. be against the law?If players are getting shares or property after they retire, they may be outsmarting the AFL (not hard to do), but what about the government - ATO ?

I'm all for taking a risk but that would be a massive gamble.Paddy McCartin apparently has had some really positive neuro results recently and is aiming to be on a list in 2021 - thoughts on picking him up?
I know we have a habit of selecting perennially injured players and I'd be super cautious of it.
If our main big man up forward goes then maybe it would cross our minds?

He needs to go play VFL or something next year and hope for a mid-season draft lifeline.Paddy McCartin apparently has had some really positive neuro results recently and is aiming to be on a list in 2021 - thoughts on picking him up?

I would say his only chance would be to play VFL next year and nominate for the mid-year draft if those things even exist next year.Definitely. If list sizes reduce I can't see him on a list next year.
No and no. Take them to the draft. So if we are looking at 18 and 19 for Brown.
18 to Crows for Fogarty
19 to Dee's for Brayshaw
?
“More broadly, there is an argument within the AFL industry that smaller clubs such as North, the Dogs, Port Adelaide and Melbourne must place a greater emphasis on drafting compared to teams with more resources who are better placed to land sought-after recruits from other clubs and expensive free agents“
I’d put the house on that being straight out of Paul Connors mouth.
Marley v Kyron? I think Kyron gone flying past Marley personally. Theirs also a much higher ceiling and a lot more to be gained by playing Kyron. Yes agree I think he will go in middle soon, or I hope so too. I feel like we’ve seen the best of Marley. What’s the upside of playing him.I'd rather see Hayden in the middle but I like what Shaw has done with him in terms of pushing him to defend. Is he any different to Williams in terms of kicking ability or creative play tho? Don't mind that experimentation, and Pittard should have stayed forward yesterday.
Has he got a gimpy leg or is it just the camera?
Either way, he had me with the head tat.
Yep, agree with that; my only qualification would be that if the club could get a 2nd rounder for Goldy (assuming he'd agree), incl paying part of his contract, we should take itMy list of untouchables:
Jy Simpkin
LDU
Tarryn Thomas
Kyron Hayden
Curtis Taylor
Nick Larkey
Bailey Scott
Cameron Zurhaar
Ben Mckay
Todd Goldstein
Robbie Tarrant
Ben Cunnington
Bolded in Blue are the young blokes that we need to build the team around - They're the future, all having proven at AFL level.
Bolded in Purple are three senior players across every line except Forward (Ruck, Defense, Midfield). Without these three, our kids will be thrown to the wolves.
That leaves quite a comprehensive list of players that we can trade &/or delist. Obviously it's not going to be the case with all (we might turnover 5-8 max), however it does give us some trade value for acquiring more picks this and next year, as well as moving on some of the deadweight that sits in our 26-30 age bracket.
