Would still love to have him here. The exact type of player we needZac is good.......when he is good - cant miss him.
A bit overrated imo.
Why do you want him ? So he can improve us from 15 to 9 ? Middle of the road again......yeah !Would still love to have him here. The exact type of player we need

Turns 26 this year. Still got 4 good years left in him minimum. He's not such good quality that he'd singlehandedly take us to a midtable finish. We'd still finish near the bottom, just with a bit of added quality and composure down back, which, if I'm honest, we sorely need right now. He would make a huge contribution to the team and would be a great mentor for our up and coming half-backs (Hayden, Murphy if he ever gets a game, Bonar if he stays down back). Would also be a good defensive general once Taz and Maj retire. Don't see why you would be shying away from quality players during a rebuild. Hit the draft, by all means. But don't neglect the opportunity to pick up a quality free agent here and there. Then you're all set for when everything finally clicks into place. Why do you want him ? Let's hit the draft/trade. Get quality youth on the list. It might take 2-3 years. And then hit Free Agency when our window is opening.
Caldwell for a second rounder would be idealI was also watching the two ooc midfielders too in Caldwell and OHall. While Caldwell played more forward its def him of the two I prefer the look of....tackles well clean and explosive....

What about the government? If players are getting shares or property after they retire, they may be outsmarting the AFL (not hard to do), but what about the government - ATO ?
Be it cash, shares or property, it is still earnings and is taxable at the highest rate.
And you are basically saying, footballers are prepared to risk tax avoidance, which is punishable by hefty fines and in some cases jail, to go to the big clubs, when they can earn less but legal, somewhere else.
Yeah right !
I think this conversation is a little over you and furryballs head...LOL
If he is stoned it's unclearly.Roll another scoob and go back and read your original reply on this matter.. you're clearly stoned..
Him or caldwell for our 2nd this year wouldnt be a bad getIs that little Daniels from the Giants out of contract next year ? reckon he is a little bit under rated.
I was going to say exactly that Ferbs, but I couldn’t be stuffed writing it all, only to fall on stoned ears..What about the government?
The AFL doesn't enforce tax law and afaik it doesn't have the right to examine players private financial dealings. It places a salary cap on clubs. Richmond actually admitted earlier this year that the sponsorship they arranged with Puma for Dustin Martin was the only thing that enabled them to match our offer. That sponsorship deal was outside the salary cap.
Ergo while "there is this Little thing called the salary cap" in cases like that where it is sposed to have a particular effect on limiting what money clubs can get for players it clearly doesn't.
Is there anything you know of that prevents across the board deals like that or like the deals offered some West Coast players?
Cos if not what is to stop the scenario we are discussing becoming one where small clubs become nurseries for big clubs. The big clubs will simply set up systems outside the salary cap that let them poach players. Maybe not for every player or even every good player but definitely for every top line absolutely elite player.
In fact there will be articles all year speculating on which big clubs the gun players small clubs have developed will go to once their "development contract" expires.

We need to do something drastic, I don’t exactly know what is possible but something along the lines of the following, Brady, please.
Starting picks 3, ~7, 28. ~56, ~60
Zac Williams on 5x $700k
Trades:
1. Goldstein > Geelong > Pick 11 (we pay 3/4 of his salary for 24 months)
2. Dumont + Ahern + Durdin > Adelaide > Pick 19 + 2021 R3
3. Ziebell + Turner + Atley + 19+28+56+60 + 2021 R1 > Sydney > Papley + 4
4. 11 + 2021 R3 > Richmond > Bolton + 17
5. Brown > Essendon > 8 + 2021 R1
2020 Draft: 3,4,7,8,17
3: Philips
4. DGB
7. Hollands
8. Cox
17. Macrae
B: McDonald - Tarrant - Higgins
HB: ZWilliams - McKay - Perez
C: Polec - DaviesUniake - SBolton
HF: Zurhaar - Larkey - Thomas
F: Papley - Comben - Cunnington
R: Xerri - Simpkin - Philips
IC: Hollands Hayden Taylor Daw
Em: Scott, Macrae, DGB, WWalker, Vickers-Willis, Cox.
I have zero confidence that Zac Williams will choose North .......he will be blue bound IMO. Disastrous, but unfortunately feel we have no chance. We need to do something drastic, I don’t exactly know what is possible but something along the lines of the following, Brady, please.

Paddy Cripps hasn’t had his pay rise yet eitherI dunno about that, reckon their last few years means that cap is pretty tight
I would be trying to get as many draft picks in the top 50 as we can.
