And now Judges have allowed a Special Grand Jury to be set up to investigate Trump's attempts to overturn the election.

Jes this is only getting better.

And Trump's former Attorney General Bill Barr is having informal (spilling his guts) talks with the 6 Jan Committee.

It also allows Independents a better chance - which Yang and his new party want

Yes, now it could work out well, however you could just get some batshit insane ultra right party candidate to just give preferences to republicans via a massive advertising campaign (like Palmer is doing here, fake protest vote which is a vote for LNP).

Now of course democrats could do the same.

I think Lindell is probably mentally ill. He’s just not playing with a full deck. Must have had some smarts to make a ton of cash but his actions since the election scream paranoia/mania of some kind.

Loving the attention?

He did the 12 step program I believe to get over a crack addiction, make this is handing himself over to a higher power part (Trump).

So as people fall further and further down the insane QAnon rabbit holes, the question increasingly becomes about what the hell do we do with this large portion of society who are entirely disconnected with reality?

Is it a large portion these days though? Saw a few videos from that Dallas JFK rally(lol) for instance, looked to be about 100 people, maybe 200 tops?

Could be wrong but it feels like they lost a lot of momentum and true believers after the election. I remember even flat earthers were calling them whackos lol.

I think in fairness, there is always a contingent of society that are willfully disconnected from the real world it just seems QANON is the flavor of the current day that galvanizes this group (or at least binds them). There is no reasoning with these I suspect (rather they are fodder for someone that can make money out of them).

It's an age old problem: cults and charismatic psychopaths leading them.

Under a ranked-choice system, voters in the general election would be able to mark candidates in their order of preference (ranking), and if a candidate wins an outright majority of votes (more than 50 percent), they would be elected to the office. If not, the candidate with the fewest first-preference votes would be eliminated, with their “votes” redistributed based on the second preference of those individual ballots. The process would continue until the final two candidates, or when one candidate reached a majority.

Affected races would include U.S. Senate and House seats, statewide office elections — governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, secretary of state, treasurer and controller — and legislative races.
It would exclude the presidential race.

The Democrats are pushing back on this and other initiatives

Preference voting. Same thing we have here.

Dems are pushing back because (unlike in Australia, where the Greens are our third party, who assign preferences to the ALP and other smaller parties like the Socialist parties) there is a dearth of Left wing parties in the USA to give the Dems preferences, whereas the American Conservatives are so fractured there are dozens of RWNJ parties (Christian, Gun, Libertarian/ Tea Party types all the way to full on Batshit crazy parties and actual Nazis) prepared to throw preferences the Republicans way.

Not an entirely unfair point, and I suppose there are degrees as to the level some are deluded (at which thinking oneself to be Mary Magdalene is surely at a rare, extreme end). But that subreddit has a lot of people on it, and if we include things like some of the anti-vaccination theories the numbers of people losing touch with reality is stark (particularly in the US).

So the Republicans are into registration fraud, colour me surprised.

They blocked 700,000 people of colour in Florida from voting, just before the election.
Republicans aren't even hiding their anti-democratic nature anymore.

Mitch has gone against the RNC narrative on Jan 6 in a rather public fashion - this is going to get interesting.
Hows the language in the censure resolution he's pushing back against - “persecution of ordinary citizens engaged in legitimate political discourse”. Legitmate political discourse, f**k me.

Imagine putting that in writing with a straight face lol. Majority of elected GOP simply do not live on this planet anymore :drunk:
