I have heard that Jesse Motlop is more likely to enter the draft than opt in to be picked up by Freo. The Motlop's aren't originally from WA/Perth and have nothing holding them hear, the family are happy to move where ever Jesse gets drafted too.

That sounds like rubbish.

Unless he has a displeasure with his FFC experience over the next 12 months i'd think it'd be highly unlikely he would elect to go elsewhere in favour.

Pfft, I'm already on him for the Coleman in 2022.
sturt and crowden in the mids that year I’m guessing then?

On the NGA, would find it really weird if the AFL signed off on us having Richard Bartlett only to end the academies right after, feels like a decision to be made after the academies are actually decided on
Don't think they are getting rid of them just looking at making changes. Probably revolving around eligibility and discount i.e removing the discount on NGA players.

Bit like organizing the AFLW finals then not awarding a premier.

It's possible Jesse's mother lives outside the metro area but Jesse attends Aquinas as a border. That would qualify him as a regional NGA player but afford him all the benefits of a metropolitan education.

They've been living here since Jesse was at least as young as six and his dad was playing with Port Adelaide.
I really hope that is the case.

I believe the west is selling subscriptions through the broadcasting of the PSA games, so they are going to be invested in talking up potential academy players in there to drive views.

It's one of their only growth areas.
Vic clubs would be buying subscriptions, as they get to see young talent from their computers
Footy is the Worst's only strength, all other parts are weakness

How do we know that Freo, or someone close to the club, aren't helping with his tuition fees?
Cyril Rioli boarded at Scotch in Melbourne, who do you reckon paid for that? Hawks, or someone close to.
Liam Henry had a corporate scholarship to Christ Church, ain't cheap to Board there.
All good, but if Motlop is being helped by someone close to Freo, he'd be likely to choose Freo, wouldn't he?

#10 Joel Western

Returning from a hamstring injury, the Fremantle Dockers Next Generation Academy member was best afield for Claremont. He finished with 24 possessions, eight marks, five inside 50s, and three goals in a dazzling display as he looks to push back into top 30 AFL Draft contention.

#13 Samuel Alvarez

Another Fremantle Dockers Next Generation Academy member, Alvarez was dynamic on the wing for the Tigers, collecting 21 possessions, laying seven tackles, and kicking a goal in a brilliant performance.

Next years draft?

Unless either is called up to the seniors we will be getting Walker vs Western this weekend. For those subscribed to The West you can watch the game live on Saturday morning.

You just know they will all be called up now so we will miss out :) Holding off on a 1 day subscription for $1 until they are confirmed as playing.

Perth vs East Perth lets us see McDonald and O'Driscoll on 7 though.

Yeah cant seem to get much luck with the stream games most of the time.

It’s actually Perth vs Subiaco. Bit of a typo from the Broadcast announcement. Potential draftee from last year Nicholas Martin is one to watch on the Subiaco side of things.

I thought it was stiff for Martin to not to get drafted last year. 11 goals in 5 games (with at least 1 every game) this year is good form. A medium forward with flexibility to play midfield is something Freo needs depth in.

We finally get to see the youngsters at Peel in the WAFLW via stream as well this week. Winner (v Claremont) to go through to finals. Peel out if they lose and East Freo beat the Swans (or end with higher percentage) - pity they couldn't stream this game as well :(
