Shouldn't that be in the singular?
I should have included Logue.

One of our current key defenders was a first round pick, the rest were second round picks so we could get a quality player with our second round pick.

But I don't expect we have a second round pick this season after Western gets bid on in the 15 to 20 range.

I don’t think there’s a hope that Western will be bid in in the top 20. Who was the last player 172cm taken in the top 20 of a ND?
The fact he’s an academy pick will slide him back a few spots too. I’d say 35-45 range. Same with Walker unless his numbers improve significantly.
We really need 2 picks in this draft in the first 2 rounds before any bids come in. If indeed Western or Walker gets a bid around 20, we need to do some pick swapping to get ahead of one or both bids.
Would love Logan mcDonald, and one of Trew or O’Driscoll in the main draft, plus Western and Walker.
Chris Walker is another that is an NGA - played well last week but doesn’t seem to be on the Radar at all for drafting.
I fee like there will be some Victorian Gold in the late/rookie draft this year more than other years. Would be nice to have a list spot open for a speculative pick at that late stage.
don’t want to see our draft options restricted by hanging onto list cloggers in the hope they might make it. Our bottom 6 players are probably the worst in the competition at the moment, so that’s an obvious sign we shouldnt be conservative with delisting players this year. It’s harsh, but it’s necessary.

Kozzie Pickett, last year

Claremont have Joel as 174cm so I'll list off that height. Kysaiah Pickett 170cm - Pick #12 2019

If he is winning a lot of ball, fast and a good user - they will take a punt on him.

Especially if there isn't much exposed form and he has been playing against men in the seniors.

Western’s offical tested height is 172cm

Ok fair enough, I must say Pickett looks a lot bigger than that out on the park at AFL level. Perhaps I’m wrong about Western but I still don’t see a top 20 bid unless he starts playing and standing out at WAFL level. He’s not a small forward, he’s a midfielder and I could see him getting the Caleb Daniel type slide to the 40s given the obsession most clubs have trying to find power midfielders with big bodies.

I feel the same way, he does have the tricks to make up for his height so any bid around the 40 or later mark is a real bargain.

Western is a midfielder. Pickett is a small forward. The height of a midget in the midfield is more of a concern than for a small forward.

Prestia is one that springs to mind as top 5/10 pick for a midget. But he is built like a tank.

Playing as a midfielder now doesn’t mean he will play as a midfielder in the AFL.

I think our list has a lot of talent and we can afford to take calculated risks. This might be a time to take a punt on the best player on the table which may be Victorian if WA and SA players move up the card for clubs being risk adverse. Particularly if that pick ends up sliding out past 7 or 8.

Need to dial in some wa talent to even our list up.

First pick on a developing KPF (much harder to get a good one outside the first round) or more explosive mid
agreed, would be all for grabbing McDonald or a mid at our first pick, unless DGB slips ridiculously (depending on where our pick comes)

Would we be interested in grabbing Callow? Tassie boy who's also a KPF. Depending on draft picks and form we might not be in the running for McDonald, and if KPFs are a need he could be worth a look.

Ross makes a lot of sense. If you want an equitable draft f.o. father son.
I don't think we have any player through father - son?

I think we might have had one through the WAFL?

Nothing through AFL though. Dillon O'Reilly was the closest we had, given his dad fell short of the mark to qualify by a few games. Otherwise we're waiting on Kobe Farmer.

They forgot to mention Western. 😍

Yes I Noticed that. Another reason why I don’t see him being bid on in the top 20. Or Brandon Walker either.
I think F/S should go (or increase the games amount to qualify) and NGAs - yeah they are a bit of a joke but every team gets a shot I guess. agree with Ross about competition integrity. They didn’t mention the biggest contributor to a lack of integrity - the concessions and PP handed to the Gold Coast suns over a 3 year period. Then again, looking at Gill signing up for a membership at the suns today on zoom to Rankine and Rowell, how could we expect any different?
