Haha, there’s a better chance of the AFL grand final being played in Wuhan and Dean Margetts becoming Fremantle’s number one ticket holder than there is of the AFL giving us a priority pick.
I agree because we aren't a priority.

Since we last played finals in 2015 the only other clubs that haven't played finals in that time are:
Carlton, Fremantle, Gold Coast and St Kilda

By the end of this season we might be the only club who hasn't played finals in the last five years.

That's grounds to apply for a priority pick.

Would we be interested in grabbing Callow? Tassie boy who's also a KPF. Depending on draft picks and form we might not be in the running for McDonald, and if KPFs are a need he could be worth a look.
Some drafts have him top ten, others second round.
He is already a brick outhouse and has a good tank. Like Pavlich he could lay FF, CHB, etc. Him or
McDonald, DGB, IMO are a priority.

Obviously only one play, but not a bad mark and goal from 50 here.

If he's as good as some are suggesting happy to take him or McDonald.

Ross makes a lot of sense. If you want an equitable draft f.o. father son.
I don't think we have any player through father - son?
Father-son rule always favors the successful clubs.

Generally, successful clubs tend to have more 100 game players.

Plus, a good percentage of the fathers were not drafted but either zoned to a club or they were brought from interstate.

It’s a shocking rule.

I think it’s a good concept, it just needs to have uniform eligibility criteria across all clubs.

I personally love Callow, probably the player I've watched the most in recent drafts. I think he can slot in instantly (though he might have a hard time behind Tabs, Lobb and Hogan if all are in good form). He has elite hands and it's not often you see him missing goals (but to be fair, most tall defenders at TSL level don't have even a quarter of the talent an AFL Defender does). I personally prefer him over McDonald, but McDonald is definitely the romantic pick who's performing at a higher standard in the WAFL League

Where do you see him falling in the draft order? Do you reckon tassie prospects come cheaper than Victorian due to being less exposed (not this year obviously but in general)?

Probably around that 10-25 mark? I think he could potentially break into the top 10 with the fact that there's more eyes on him now then there would be due to no Victorian games.

I feel like Tasmania definitely has a harder time breaking into the draft than most. Mitch O'Neill was our only draftee last year outside of Matt McGuinness who joined North as a Cat-B rookie and two years earlier we only had Hugh Dixon. Being the weakest side in the NAB League means that most of our players exposure ends up being in huge losses to the Metro League clubs like Oakleigh. This year we've got 3 players that could potentially go top 30 (Callow, Oliver Davis and Sam Collins, with Collins less likely to end up there) but we've also got Patrick Walker and Jared Dakin (overager) who are potential late draftees. I know Chris rates Pat Walker in his top 20 and I have him towards the lower end of my top 50 but he's someone who in a normal year probably gets overlooked for the pure fact of being stuck in the TSL/Tassie Devils system

Joel Western's Claremont giving the Swans Colts a bath atm. Can someone tell him to turn it down a bit please? That 2nd rounder of Melbourne's is starting to look very shaky.

PS. Colin Young's son can play (yes, the dodgy player manager one).

Kalin Lane and Zane Trew are going pretty well in the same game.

Districts getting smashed (umps also not helping) but they seem to have some talented kids but they are just getting bullied around the ball. Jamison Ugle, Joseph Salmon and Elijah Hewett have all done some nice things.

It’d be good to get an opinion on McDonald from those that saw Naughton a lot as an 18yo at Peel. Just as a comparison on potential and ability etc. I saw McDonald last week and was impressed but not top 5 draft pick impressed.

I saw Naughton playing for Peel several times. Whilst his kicking was a bit hit and miss, the thing that struck me about him was that although he was skinny (but a good body shape) he was very good in a 1-1 marking contest even then. A key feature was he often protected the drop of the ball and he really attacked the ball whether he was in defence or the few times he was in attack. Also he clearly had a good work ethic and ran himself into the ground. I saw a few interviews as well and he spoke well and seemed to be well-grounded about the realities of AFL life.

I think the promising thing about Logan is that he looks like a guy that works hard, and his marking is also a feature, though I am not convinced yet that it was as good as Naughton (but that might change by the end of the season). I like the fact that McDonald has and can get on a role and has kicked big bags of goals at times and generally has a good kick. Logan also seems reasonably well spoken and intelligent; obviously he is studying at Uni at the moment so having that kind of fall-back in life is always good to see.

Just put him CHB if Tabs, Lobb, Hogan ever get to play continuously.
Just Like barge arse McGovern, you won't out mark him.
Side seriously needs some size if we want to be a contender.
