Definitely a chance at both, just depends where we finish and how much the points deficit affects us.

The wildcard is Elijah Hollands. But I reckon North will look at DGB. And we're probably lucky that Hawthorn's midfield is just as bad as their forward line, because their tall forwards are all pretty average and McDonald would be an improvement. The other one to consider is Sydney, if Tom Papley wants a trade again then they could end up with multiple top 10 picks. So they could go with a tall early too.

1. Bulldogs (bid) - Ugle Hagan
2. Adelaide - Thilthorpe
3. Adelaide (compo) - Phillips
4. North - DGB
5. Hawthorn - Hollands
6. Sydney - McDonald
7. Fremantle -
Praying no club is giving crouch 800k for band 1 otherwise I don’t see how we get McDonald

Personally, I don't have Callow in that top group. I think he's a second rounder, and I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up as a defender.
I just like the flexibility, options having someone who could be a swingman.
With Cox, Logue, we can cover better, or create a mis-match.
Of coarse we wouldn't even be having this discussion if Dixon was developing.
That and McCarthy at 194cm doesn't play tall, could even be delisted.
Freo need all the goal kickers it can get, and Callow does that well.
2nd round I would be very happy, and having a player who is a powerful unit is IMO a must.

No way crouch gets a start of 1st round pick for adelaide.
He is useless & afl don't do adelaide favours.
He's not that bad if used to his strengths which the Crows definitely aren't doing. Also can't have him in a midfield full of one paced players.

That said I agree, he is not good enough to get in the top 5% but it wouldn't surprise me if he someone got them pick 2.

Update - knightmare now has Logan McDonald at pick 6 on his draft board
I say this with respect to the dude since he puts in a lot of time for Bigfooty but I wouldn’t be going to him for WA talent
Seriously though, either of the crouch boys could make our midfield. Anything that frees fyfe up to go forward. Especially if we don’t have to give up a pic.
I won’t budge on Matt Crouch, would give us very little gain for the 500k you have to pay him, there is a reason he has been dropped from the bottom side and his supporters don’t rate him.

Brad Crouch would be worthwhile for 600-650k, I agree.

Who do you have us taking at this point Chris? Who do you see as a need? I feel we need a developing young forward.

I think we're still missing a few pieces in our forward line - a young key forward, another medium forward to pair with Sturt, a genuine crumbing forward. Not massive needs because we can make do by rotating guys like Henry, Frederick, Walters and Fyfe through there, but things we'll need going forward. I'm not entirely sure why we picked up Dillon O'Reilly in the first place, I can't see him making it. So another key defender would be on my list too. Plus I'd look to add someone else in the mix for the wing position.

1st - Denver Grainger-Barras, Logan McDonald, Nathan O'Driscoll
2nd - Jack Carroll (mid/flank), Heath Chapman (KPD)
NGA - Joel Western, Brandon Walker

The first group is obvious. For our second pick, I'm not sure Chapman will be available. But I reckon Carroll would be firmly in our sights if he's on the board - 188cm, excellent kick. Played off half back a bit, but he'll shoot up the draft board as a midfielder.

I think we can afford to draft best available with our first pick. List looks talented to me. Agree the main gaps are forward, but we could happily take a KPF/B or medium forward with that 1st rounder without it solving problems, or creating them. We could even squeeze in another mid in my view as I think Cerra is going to be more than half a flanker. In fact the more I think about it the more it makes sense.
Call it purple glasses, but I don't think we're going to be on the bottom much longer. This might be our last chance for grabbing a top clearance mid for a while (luck aside): Brayshaw, Cerra and Serong are all talented, Tucker is a foot solider. Really only Serong projects as an elite clearance winner. Brayshaw and Cerra talents lie in other areas. This puts a lot of pressure on Fyfe who is 30 next season, and also places Walters* (nearly a year older) on the ball nearly full time rather than just centre bounces.

*BTW to the people who were complaining Walters should only be on the ball for centre bounces and should go forward after: That is exactly how we lined up to start the game Sunday, and he only ended up on the ball full time for the last three quarters because everyone else was getting thrashed. Before the first bounce Walters was in the square. Brayshaw was on the wing and Bewley lined up in the F50. After the first contest they all rotated round one position.

McDonald has spoken with both WA clubs, Freo are very keen apparently- also Collingwood who he grew up barracking for.
Keen to stay in WA.
Sorry not groundbreaking info but thought I’d share.
Would be all for him doing a Wingard

What does doing a wingard mean?

GWS has the first 5 picks in the 2012 draft, Wingard told them he’d be heading home in 2 years if they took him
Rumours that Bailey Smith did the same
wasn’t part of the rumour that he got a certificate saying it was for his mental health or something along those lines

Yeah, I think so. About time someone from WA does it and it may as well by Logan =)

Just 4 players in the AFL are listed as smaller than Joel Westerns 172cm.
Caleb Daniel
Brent Daniels
McDonald tipungwuti
Kozzie Pickett
If he’s as good as any of them I’m more than happy to add him to our list.

Claremont midfielder and Fremantle Dockers prospect Joel Western avoids serious hamstring injury

Draft hopeful Joel Western dodged an injury bullet in Claremont’s colts win over Swan Districts at Revo Fitness Stadium on Saturday.

The Fremantle Next Generation Academy prospect limped off with a left hamstring issue late in the second quarter of the 18.13 (121) to 5.4 (34) victory and took no further part in the match.

Tigers colts coach Matt Angus said injury was only a “mild strain” and expected the important midfielder to miss a couple of games.

Angus backed the professional 17-year-old, rated as one of WA’s best midfield draft prospects, to do his rehabilitation to the letter and return to his scintillating best form quickly.
The classy speedster was one of the best players on ground before his injury, amassing 14 disposals in a quarter-and-a-half.

It backed up his brilliant opening-round display against Subiaco when he had 29 possessions, six clearances, four tackles and a goal in an upset victory.

Dashing wingman Cameron Anderson spent more time as an inside midfielder after Western’s injury on Saturday, with small forward Zac Mainwaring getting a run on the wing in the second half.
The Dockers get first crack at him in the draft because of his involvement in their NGA program, qualifying due to his Singaporean heritage.

The reigning WAFL colts premiers made it two wins from as many starts on Saturday, easily accounting for the Swans.

The Tigers take on South Fremantle at Fremantle Community Bank Oval on Saturday before a grand final rematch against Peel Thunder at home the following weekend.
Western was in the mix for an early-season promotion after training with the seniors during the pre-season before an untimely thumb injury halted his charge.

Having met Joel and his dad I can guarantee he will put 100% into it, without fear. His old man is a very solid unit so he may end up Prestia like in build.
