It looks like Winder and Rankine will make their league debuts this weekend
Great news. Curious why Hayden Yarran is on the emergencies?!?

Nick Robertson playing his first game for EP this week as well. Was hoping we might see Brandon Walker get a go for EF in that game :(

Yarren as emergency is a strange one. I didn’t pick up on that. He was super impressive rd 1 but but missed last weeks game.

...but another midfielder, when we already have Fyfe, Brayshaw, Cerra, Tucker, Serong, and Valente?

Midfield is our greatest need if you forget about injuries. The above is not and will never be good enough to win a premiership. Honestly using Valente as an example is laughable at this stage - hasn’t played a game and, who knows, may never do so.

It’s frustrating. Good clubs can rely on getting their best players on the park. List Management for every club in the league has never once been about covering injuries with high picks.

If we get 4-5 of Hogan, Lobb, Taberner, Pearce, Hamling and Logue firing at the same time and find a competent (we have one imo but he’ll take time) it’s good enough to win a premiership imo which is what we should be trying to do. It will all be dependent on finding one or two more good midfielders and a few decent small forwards before Walters and Fyfe are cooked though.

Probably need another mid, but in all honesty that should be NGA in the next few years.
But also add Bobby Hill with Henry, Walters and the pace, skill argument is mute.
That and Western, Walker?
Seems pointless to just go from one extreme to another, it's about balance and having
cover for injuries.

Sorry but this is absolute BS. If three top 10 picks in Brayshaw, Cerra and Serong won't develop into being good enough to win a premiership I will happily eat my hat. The problem isn't the quality of the players, it's that they are inexperienced and the midfield as a whole is inexperienced (including ruck Darcy). Which other club is playing 19 and 20 year olds in their starting midfield alongside a 22 year old ruck?

FFS look back to how West Coast's midfield performed before they became successful. Or are you claiming you had the premonition that guys like Yeo, Shuey, Gaff, Redden, Sheed and Hutchings were definitely going to have the success that they have? It just takes time.

I think we all get way to preoccupied by the quality of individual players when the overwhelming evidence is that a champion team always beats a team of champions.

Midfield need to be 5-6 deep with quality like that West Coast midfield is. Outside of the three above and Fyfe, I really don’t see who else is going to get there tbh. Tucker is handy but I don’t quite see him at that level.

Ideally I’d like us to draft a mid as I don’t think our future midfield is deep enough.

If there’s a player available too good to refuse that’s not a mid, well there’s decent mids available each draft and a greater supply available on the trade table - I’m not overly fussed if it’s this year or next but 110% has to be done imo. Games are won and lost in the middle.

Shuey, Gaff, were always going to be good to elite, the other guys are good run with players.
Also helps having quality rucks in NN, Lycett.
They have a good balance of skilled and contested players, and at home bully teams into
submission.
Having a champion spine can also shield deficiencies, Simpson has learnt plenty from his time at
the Hawks.
Our midfield was better than Hawyhorn's in 2013 GF, yet we still lost.
Having Buddy, Roughhead then Gunstan who kicked 4 was the difference.
