He’ll be climbing up a few spots on draft boards then no doubt. Nice to hear he’s going well. Having not seen him play before, he sounds like a guy who doesn’t get huge disposal numbers but seems to dispose a lot by foot and therefore can be quite impactful with the touches he does get?

I agree with the first part, but how would anyone know at this time of year if we were targeting a player? So when you say there's no obvious target you mean there's no player from another club you would target? I feel like we need to put some experience around our youth. Im not necessarily saying trading our first.

Its also possible that his midfield don't let the ball into his backline that often.
A half back getting 35 and 20 marks looks great, but you don't need to do much to picture him running into space, taking an uncontested mark and then turning it over so it comes back

Yeah he is very clean and composed, you would think with his speed that he would run around at every opportunity but he is a bit smarter than that and knows when to take his time to make the right decision.
Nah not an issue at all, I don’t rate getting cheap touches as an unaccountable half back, it’s why someone like Bianco went later In the draft and why Cassar wasn’t taken aswell, Walker mostly attacks with defence first and foremost and then counterattacks when he wins possession.

If the Vics were playing would McDonald still go top-5? Obviously super-talented, but surely the lack of competition from the Vic talent rated above him helps him rise up the order.
At any rate is it worth melting about whether we can grab McDonald yet? Maybe not completely analogous, but hands up if you thought we were a chance to grab either Serong or Young halfway through last season (let alone both.) Lot of water to pass under the bridge.

I can't see us finishing outside the bottom 3 to be honest, so either McDonald or Tillthorpe should be there
I am both excited and depressed by this prediction. PS. Mcdonald pls.
North will probably have 3 wins on the board today. Tbh it’s hard to see where the next win is coming for our young side that is so injury ravaged. Maybe sydney? Maybe a chance to catch the pies on the hop on Sunday. They have a lot of injuries too and will have one eye on the plane out of Perth on Sunday.
Hard to see us ending up with more than 4 wins, maybe 5. That’s bottom 4 level I’d imagine. Most teams already have the 4 wins apart from Sydney and north and the demons.

It was the Jesse Motlop show in the PSA today, as the son of former AFL star Daniel kicked a season-high 11 goals in Aquinas’ monster 134-point win over Wesley at Aquinas College.
Going into the game the small forward had 12 goals from four games, but he almost doubled that in four quarters in Aquinas’ 23.9 (147) to 1.7 (13) victory.
Aquinas’ ability to work out congestion through a series of quick handballs allowed them to find space and put pressure on Wesley’s defence, who were well led by tall defender Connor Fitzgerald.
But they simply had no answer for Motlop, who read the ball well and was able to use his incredible speed to take advantage of the smallest amount of space and kick easy goals with little pressure.
Motlop had four goals by half-time, thanks to the work of midfielder Damian Sinclair, Arden De Melo, Jackson Merillo, and Corey Warner, who seemed to bring his own ball, as they read the work of undersized ruckman Tom Dempsey well and worked the ball forward with intent.
Wesley lifted early in the second term and matched Aquinas’ intensity around the ball, but could not take advantage of some solid play on the scoreboard.
Once this effort saw them wear down, the flood gates opened, as Aquinas booted all five goals for the term to lead by 44 points at half-time.
Motlop came out of the break like a man on a mission, kicking four more goals in the third term as Aquinas piled on the pain in a relentless showing of slick football.
Wesley just could not get the ball past halfway enough and when they did manage to get it forward, the ball came out too easily as their forwards were found too far behind the strong Aquinas defence.
Impressively, Aquinas never took their foot off the pedal as they continued to overrun the hard-working Wesley, who just struggled for composure with ball in hand.
And Motlop continued on his merry way, kicking three more goals in the final term to finish with a monster haul and now 23 goals in just five games.
