Now we’re going up the ladder (We have Pick 5 at the moment, not sure what that becomes with deficit applied) I’m going to start the Archie Perkins train. He’s a Vic Metro kid which will turn a few of you off, but he’s a 186cm forward/mid who’s powerful, can take a bloody good mark and has very clean hands. Probably a few years away from being a mid, but fits a need as a medium forward to go alongside Sturt.

Personal favourite of mine, I know Chris25 likes him too

Happy to be convinced. Can he kick?

I think forward/mid is a priority for us.

He’s a good kick for goal, averaged 1.7 goals last year in the NAB League as an underager. I wouldn’t call him a consistently great kick for goals, but when he’s on he’s deadly in front of the sticks. Reminds me of Fyfe in a way there.
 
If you get a chance to watch a Claremont colts game keep an eye on Jacob Van Rooyen. 17yo (so 2021 draft), listed at 194cm. Kicked 5 against Peel on the weekend and 10 across first 4 games this year. Come on leaps and bounds and looking a top prospect for 2021.

Hopefully we will get to see Western playing as well this weekend onward. And Kalin Lane is worth a look as a decent ruck prospect in this year's draft. Claremont colts going to be hard to beat this year - got a bunch of quality players surrounded by decent role players.

I just did a big post on needing McDonald but if there is another WA key prospect next I can wait a year before bringing in a WA KPF. Think we need to make sure we get one of McDonald or Van Rooyen in the next two years though

Like your thinking but I doubt Van Rooyen will last to pick #18 though :(

Haha, true but that draft seems to be pretty damn incredible by all accounts doesnt it? He could get to around 10 which we could trade up to.

McDonald probably easier to get anyway, if we want to trade a future 1st like my other post, I think you can get a lot of bang for back with how 2021 is rated and the uncertainty this year

I honestly don't know enough about the rest of the 2021 crop yet (so have no idea how Van Rooyen stacks up currently) but there seems to be some incredible talent at the top. WA didn't do that well in the respective u16s carnival but I think they are being underrated (was some strange players exclusions from the 16s team imo).

You are probably going to get a really good player with a first rounder next year so I'd probably keep hold of it - think Walls and co have been fantastic with their drafting lately. Can see us looking at free agents that draft as well.
 
Just spitballing here, but if McDonald & DGB are off the board by the time our 1st pick comes around should we consider off loading it for say GC’s continent mid first round next year?

West Perth started their derby day in fine fashion, making it four wins from as many starts in the colts by disposing of arch-rivals East Perth by 47 points at Joondalup’s Provident Financial Oval.

Towering 198cm ruckman Michael Mallard was best-afield, amassing 36 hit-outs and following up his own work around the ground with 22 possessions, five inside 50s and a goal.

Captain Heath Chapman, one of WA’s top key-position draft prospect alongside Denver Grainger-Barras and Logan McDonald, put together another big performance down back.
The intercept-marking defender has been one of the Falcons’ most consistent players as he pushed for a league berth, standing out with 23 touches and eight marks.
Colts leading goal-kicker Corey Rundle (3.2) and Darcy Dixon (three goals) were the stars of the show up forward, with Rundle taking his season tally to 15 from four matches.
Kane Bevan, Brady Alvaro, Luke Reilly, Christian Henderson were also prominent for the victors.
The Royals missed Adam Boules’ ball-winning ability in the midfield, with the co-captain sidelined for a second straight week with an elbow issue.
Jaylen Colegate (23 disposals and six tackles) and Luke Lombardi (21 and five marks) fought hard and Jye Amiss (two goals) was lively up forward.
Perth 8.7 (55) d East Fremantle 6.8 (44)
A couple of former Sharks came back to haunt East Fremantle in Perth’shard-fought 11-point win at New Choice Homes Park.
Strongly-built midfielder Conor McPartland, who played two colts games for East Freo last season, continued his stunning debut season as a Demon with another huge performance.
McPartland racked up 33 possessions and six inside 50s, laid six tackles and kicked a goal in an all-round effort.

Bullcreek-Leeming product Harry Quartermaine was his side’s premier forward, with the key-position player a strong presence on his way to two majors.
On-baller Zak Meloncelli (30 disposals, 12 marks and six tackles) was another prime mover, ruckman Jaiden Hunter (44 hit-outs and 20 disposals) was the pick of the big men and first-round draft hopeful Nathan O’Driscoll (22 disposals) grew in confidence as the game went on.
The Sharks went goalless in the first half in windy conditions but came to life after the main break with livewire Edward Curley producing a couple of pieces of magic on his way to three majors.
Smooth-moving half-back Brandon Walker was also a huge part of the comeback with a pair of classy finishes.
The Fremantle Next Generation Academy talent used the ball so well out of defence, as he has shown the past few weeks since he move down back.
Josh Browne was another stand-out in defence, getting in the right spots and using the ball well by foot.
Draft hopefuls Jack Carroll and Finn Gorringe found plenty of the footy through the midfield and Lachlan McGrath competed strongly around the ground.
The Demons’ win came at a cost with Kaiden Pisani taken to hospital with a broken forearm.
East Freo are likely to welcome back Chris Walker from neck and concussion issues after the bye, likewise with ruckman Tom Muskarovsky(ankle).
Claremont 12.13 (85) d Peel Thunder 8.10 (58)
It was the Jacob van Rooyen show at Revo Fitness Stadium as Claremontkept their unbeaten start to the season rolling against Peel Thunder.
The powerful Tigers forward had a day out in the 27-point win with 11 score involvements including five goals to take his season tally to 10 from four matches.
Van Rooyen is shaping up to be one of WA’s most exciting 2021 draft hopefuls.
Speedster Cameron Anderson continued his strong form with another fine midfield performance, amassing 18 possessions, five inside 50s and laying five tackles.
Big-bodied midfielder Logan Young was busy with 24 touches, six tackles and a goal, with son-of-a-gun Kendyll Blurton, Jake Willson and Alex Pearce also prominent.
Joel Western could return as early as next week from a minor hamstring issue in another huge boost for the Tigers.
Fresh off his league debut, Isiah Winder impressed for Peel with a game-high 29 disposals and nine marks to go with five tackles and a goal.
Winder was set to play in the seniors again but was sick during the week and couldn’t train.
Kobe Farmer, the son of Fremantle great Jeff and Dockers Next Generation Academy talent, was also among the Thunder’s best with 2.2 and five tackles in a lively showing.
Luke Polson, Jackson Broadbent and David Yaccob also battled hard in a losing cause.

Subiaco 16.14 (110) d South Fremantle 5.3 (33)
In the final game of round four, Subiaco thrashed South Fremantle by 77 points under lights at Leederville Oval on Saturday night.
It was an even team performance from the Lions, who slammed on seven first-quarter goals to nothing to open up a big lead.
Jacob Evitt was the Lions’ best, with the former State 16s representative having a big say in the midfield and across half-forward.
Patrick Mullane was important down back, Jed Kemp provided his trademark hardness and Lachlan Henderson, who was an emergency for the league side, also stood out.
Connor Patterson booted three goals from the midfield with tall forward Sandon Page and Jaxon Bilchuris (three apiece), Ezekiel Bolton, Tyler Brockman and Lachlan McKay (two each) also hitting the scoreboard.
Ruck duo Shannon Neale and Solomon James were South Fremantle’s best with 40 touches, four goals and 39 hit-outs between them.
Neale is shaping up as one of the State’s best tall prospects alongside Claremont ruckman Kalin Lane.
Caleb Stephens (26 disposals and eight marks), Jacob Sax (25 and 11) and Jaxon Bellchambers (23 and nine) found plenty of the footy in the middle, making the most of the brilliant work of their ruckman.
South won the clearances and had more possessions than their opponents but turnovers were costly, with 10 goals coming from them.

That's nice but I prefer the Wingard approach personally "Don't bother, I'm going home after 2 years"

Nah, **** the draft. Its time we actually got some results and started to build a base level of quality football to actually give us a decent platform going forward.
