Where is Western? Has already been 3 weeks with a mild hamstring. Must be using the freo rehab team
To be honest the less he plays between now and the draft the better for us. He’s gonna end up on our list regardless, I think he’s done enough to guarantee it.
Him playing and tearing it up at u18 level or playing league means that we could end up paying more for him, that could cost us valuable draft capital that could be used elsewhere.
We have seen the impact of good draft hauls in the last 4 years on the quality of our list and hopefully we can net another one this year.

Logan McDonald played his best game so far this season imo, kicked 3.2 and set up a few just his smarts and poise, do something Freo seriously though going to the Crows by the looks of it as pick one.

Nah, Crows keen for some returning SA players (Valente / Cox). If an SA boy is expected to go near our pick we should try and trade on up. Win win!

If he is going to anywhere else, Adelaide is pretty good for us :)

We could probably use some size in the middle. Cerra and AB arent small but with Fyfe spending more time forward and Mundy nearly done I wouldnt be unhappy with O'Driscoll. Looks to be more than 190cm now and could be the last piece of the midfield puzzle.

First choice still McDonald but hard to see us getting him now

I’m intrigued by what we do this year.

Our second will likely get gobbled by Walker. We have no picks for Western or C Walker.

We are rumoured to have a player coming in.

Outside of the wings and small forwards we don’t have any significant holes that experience won’t fix.

List sizes potentially reducing.

Going to very interested as to how it plays out

Tonight showed one thing matter in AFL more than anything else - clean hands at the Ball. Guys who are comfortable and composed on the footy. That’s why I like the look of western so much.
We need one more good draft haul. The first pick this year is crucial.

A third rounder for Connor Blakely seems likely. We wont get much more than that unfortunately for a player not selected for much of this year. Get Walker B with the second rounder and Western with the third rounder seems possible. Worst case scenario is that we use a future pick as well as the third for Western. Last I heard B. Walker in the 24-35 range but our second rounder will be pushed back a fair bit after bid matching.

giantroo on the main draft board has uploaded some highlights of Archie Perkins
Now we’re going up the ladder (We have Pick 5 at the moment, not sure what that becomes with deficit applied) I’m going to start the Archie Perkins train. He’s a Vic Metro kid which will turn a few of you off, but he’s a 186cm forward/mid who’s powerful, can take a bloody good mark and has very clean hands. Probably a few years away from being a mid, but fits a need as a medium forward to go alongside Sturt.

Personal favourite of mine, I know Chris25 likes him too
giantroo on the main draft board has posted some highlights of Perkins. If you wanna see what I see in him you'll find it here. Obviously it's highlights so they're going to be good, so don't take too much away from them, but it's a good look into what he can do

Also recommend going over to giantroo's thread and watching the other draft videos he puts out. Some great vision of Elijah Hollands, Logan McDonald, Denver Grainger-Barrass and Will Phillips among others

He looks like a handy winger half forward type.

I reckon of the last 6 games, we're possibly looking at 2 wins (Sydney, North), 2 losses (Rich, WB), and two 50/50s (GWS, Melb). Win 3 of them and we'll probably finish about 12th, which is going to take some fancy footwork to get us into a good position going into the draft, as we'll likely end up with pick 10, and Melbourne's pick 27/28. Fancy footwork, and a few popped collars indeed.
Who is in contract and tradable?

(very late to the party, so feel free to point me in the direction of answers to these questions/comments)

I also think that of the current ladder Sydney, Hawthorn and North could all go tall.
we could have most of the good talls off the board anyway.
Could free us up to go best mid, best small forward or DGB
Swans have two midfielders as academy players. If they get Daniher not sure they go tall in the forward line. Especially with McCartin ang Blakey. DGB is a good fit for them.

Hawthorn are an interesting one. Clarkson is hell bend on not rebuilding. They may not be patient and go with a small who can play straight away.

North’s board sacked Scott because Scott wanted to rebuild. Shaw felt the list is ready to play finals. They have 2 first picks and may go tall with the later first rounder.

Hawthorn will 100% go tall with their first pick. Follow the buddy and roughead model

Hawks build their success by heavy investing into the draft : Hodge, Franklin, Lewis, Rioli, Mitchell, and Roughead.

Then they traded in the likes of Hale, Gibson,Lake, Gunston, McEvoy and Frawley to form their talls.

After 2015 they have traded in Vickery, Patton and Frost.
