With Mundy on the horizon of retirement, and Tabs finding his straps this season I think it's time for another Murray boy to join the purple...

Imagine this guy developing alongside Brayshaw, Cerra, Sturt, Serong, Young, Henry... please slide to our 1st pick.

I think Adelaide in particular would be insane not to take him. Their midfield is one-paced, slow and old. They need some talent in the middle before they look to sure up the forwards

Is that meaning we have been granted access to Richard Bartlett?

I think it means we can apply, not that it will be granted yet.

It might be seen as unfair for non WA clubs to not have their potential juniors able to play, and the AFL would be being consistent to bring everyone down to the same level after their treatment with training group numbers.

Wash your mouth out. I refuse to accept the words “Mundy” and “retirement” belong in the same sentence.

I don't think Hollands solves their midfield problems though. There is a pretty handy SA giant that they might regret not taking. Or McDonald who you could shape a forward line around. Will they be willing to grab someone with an ACL using pick #1?

FWIW I very much doubt Hollands lasts to our pick (even if we were to fall down to 3rd bottom) but he really is exactly the type we need imo. The only slight inkling we have a chance is that all the teams below us seem to need talls and there is some quality at the top end this year.

It would depend on what occurred at training to cause the ACL rupture. Personally, I think there is a big difference between a tangle in a tackle or wrapping around something compared to an unfortunate landing or pivot move resulting in going down under what appears to be no contact - those look more like structural flaws presenting in rare circumstances.

Those rare circumstances will present more often as a professional footballer, where as the tackle tangles will be much less often - and impossible to counter.

The only way we could have a shot at Elijah Hollands is if we either don't win another game this year and finish second last or his knee injury is terminal.

I was putting together a little mock this morning, and it ended up with Denver Grainger-Barras as being best available for us. I also can't see any way we can get a second pick in before a Brandon Walker bid unless we get creative during trade week.

Where do you have Walker and Western going?

Jfc Chris. Don't come in here with your well reasoned logic and cruel realities! We lost to Carlton on the weekend (well not really but we didn't get the 4 points!).

We're here to dream that somehow we manage to take both McDonald and Hollands with our 1st and 2nd pick, and all the other clubs forget Walker and Western exist so we get them for free later in the draft. Leaving us to walk into 2021 with a full gamut of picks for that year for the first time in forever. Anything less than that and we should sack the whole list management and recruitment team.

But seriously, if we get someone like DBG and other clubs think Walker is late 1st/early 2nd worthy, and we get Western in as well I think we'll be doing ok out of this year's draft.

I'd happily take DGB, as the clear lack of available Key-Position defenders is costing this club success!

What's your take on the situation Joao?
I wouldn't draft DGB unless Pearce and Hamling retired or you think he can make it as an AFL forward. This will hopefully be our last top 10 pick for some time and we already used 8 on Logue. I don't see how you can justify another on DGB where history shows that quality KPDs come from everywhere in the draft.

Grainger-Barras is a weird one for us. I think he's a super prospect, deserving of a top 5 pick and a WA kid too. I was all over him a few months ago, and I'm still mocking him to us. But...

I wonder how much the past month or so will affect our thinking. There's no denying Pearce and Logue are injury prone, and the lack of progress with Hamling is worrying. But Luke Ryan is in career best form and Brennan Cox is a must to re-sign in my opinion. We absolutely need another KPD this year, but will we next year if we can get even two of the three injured players back? There is an argument for using a late pick on a KPD instead.

I'd still take him, but it may well be more of luxury pick. We wouldn't even need any KPDs with him, Ryan and Young intercepting everything that comes in.

This is the sort thinking that lands you Fischer McAsey rather than Serong or Young isn't it?

Would DGB be able to go forward like Naughton if all the KPD’s recover ok? Doubt we will get McDonald

Thinking at all would be an improvement for Adelaide.

I'm sure he could, but I always hated McPharlin going forward. Great defender, okay forward. Feels like it would be similar for DGB.
