Any rumours of Freo trading their 2020 & 2021 r1 picks for Crows' pick one to get McDonald?

The OP of our 2020 draft thread has stuck a "-5-" on the title suggesting we will have your r1 pick (no other info posted) ... or maybe trade for a player like Brad Crouch.

Why would anyone trade for a free agent that wants to stay at Adelaide but if they can't afford him will move?

The matching of the offer to him to force a trade would be exactly what Brad Crouch wanted and then Adelaide have signed him for the terms he wanted. The offer being matched requires the offer being matched.

I see no reason why Crouch couldn't agree to terms with Adelaide after the offer is matched for a lesser amount of fewer years though.

But if he wants to stay and get paid, then there will be no trade for him.

The big question is how much versatility does DGB have? Can he become something other than a intercept key defender or third tall?
Could he bulk up and play midfield, or could he be turned into a second or third tall up front?
I alway like young lads with good hands overhead. You can usually find a spot for them anywhere in a good side.

Apparently is good defensively not just as an interceptor and I am sure somebody has said he might have midfield scope but...

If you want a midfielder, draft a midfielder. It's not like top 10 midfield prospects can't play and you have to shoehorn the talls in there.

If he goes forward and shows something then you get interested.

I’m surprised AFL recruiters and his management aren’t putting more pressure on Swans to give him a run in the forwardline tbh.

Since there was talk of possibly trading down, here's a top 30 mock I put together...
If we traded our picks for say Geelong's #11 and #17 (or whatever it ends up starting at) then would you be happy with say ODriscoll/Bruhn/Perkins/Henry + Chapman/Trew/Caroll/Powell over just DGB before the Walker bid?

With Crouch, it seems a case of club & Brad are happy for him to stay but if Crows can get a low digit pick then it's best long term for both if he leaves. So that could be either a big contract for a r1 compo, or a draft pick by trade - depends on whether a club wants him enough and how it could pay for him.

I guess the pick 1 for 5+ trade to get McDonald is more plausible - I just saw a 2 plus something equals 5 so wondering if that could be 3 :)

Re Adelaide #1 pick, I would have thought that even though they have a few holes to fill,a replacement for Tex would have been high on the list and Tilthorpe of interest to them.

Have they got a developing Key forward in the wings. Or is the midfield hole the most important issue?

They have holes in literally every position, except may half back flankers.

Re Tilthorpe chris , Is he actually any good? He seems lumbering in the footage ive seen. Doesnt look any where near a pick 1 or 2.
Any thoughts?

Hey Chris, do you think that Callow would make for a warm and fuzzy consolation prize, if Logan McDonald was to be off the table?

I doubt if Geelong would do that trade and expect them to be all over Bruhn, Perkins and Henry if available. But for us, I think we need quality, not quantity, so prefer to keep our pick.

If there is a crazy Suns deal, I would look at it.

good question. You wouldn't be drafting him for speed. There are some nice athletic rucks available later in this draft including WA boys. For me, if Thilthorpe is available at our pick he gets the big ticks.

I think Adelaide have as poor a midfield as anyone in a very long time. Yes, their forward line is just as bad. But without improving the midfield, they probably won't win a game next year either. Riley Thilthorpe or Logan McDonald won't help with nobody to kick it to them. If they aren't even competitive, then people will lose their jobs. If Fischer McAsey and Will Hamill don't win a game for 2 years, why would they stick around? You know the Victorian clubs will be eyeing them off.

Maybe some life in the midfield will bring the best out of Elliot Himmelberg, Darcy Fogarty and Billy Frampton. Give Patrick McCartin another chance. Take Kaine Baldwin later on. There are options for the forward line. They desperately need a talented midfielder.

He's more advanced than Luke Jackson in fairly well all areas, except speed. But his athleticism is excellent for his size, really good below his knees.

He'd be as good an option as anyone in that second round and onwards. I do suspect he'll be best suited to the back lines.

It always looks good adding two for one, just depends on if any other team would go for it - probably a team looking for a tall if DGB or Thilthorpe are available, or a Reid or Cox if they start climbing. I do like Bruhn, plus all four in your second grouping.

North Launceston have started to play him in defence and he has played pretty well too, long term he might become that Cale Hooker type as a key defender mostly who can swing forward in a pinch.

Ahh, I see. Damn, I was hoping he was a pure key position forward.

Don’t mind that especially if we look like missing out on our primary target.

Im very keen to see Heath Chapman get a run in the West Perth league team. Really like what he has done this shortened season and for mine would be a great fit for Freo.

I agree he has been great and is putting together a fantastic season. But don't you think we are pretty well covered in that area with Young, Logue etc.

eDPS where do you see Motlop projecting for the 2021 draft at this early stage?
Haven’t watched him play yet but plan to watch a lot of the PSA games when I get a chance. I’ve only catched a small amount of PSA when it’s been on live and yeah the standard is pretty average. Hopefully get to see how he goes once school football has finished
