Presumably an Asian player, which is something this league has never scouted well.

Normally the timing would be excellent, so soon after a World Cup, when you’d have a good chance to lure some retiring internationals - but I don’t see anyone retiring with the Asian Cup currently scheduled to be less than a year later.

We've had a few high profile quality Asian players in the A League like Honda & Ono. Need something more along those lines.


A League certainly has a lot going for it with the weather and being aligned to European seasons unlike the rest of AFC (although this causes headaches for the AFC Champs League).

I believe we will continue to attract high profile Asian players in their 30s towards the end of their careers as they love the lifestyle here (this is something the ME cannot do despite the huge money on offer).
