"Zac Taylor looms as a top-20 smokey and has been linked to the Swans"

Cal Twomey’s late mail: Spotlight on TWO clubs, Vic mid intrigue (afl.com.au)

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, ffs, could we please just once not be the team that is the "the first surprise of the evening"... Just one time Beatson ffs.

To me Taylor is what we need. If he was 5cm taller he would probably be in top 10 consideration. He knows how to get the ball, is a good kick and good decision maker and he is very good in the clearances. As far as I am concerned he is very underrated in this years draft.

GWS and Finn Callaghan still intrigues me.

Until about the last two weeks it was all about trading out of pick 2 and picking Andrew or Gibcus with their 'new' pick.
Twomey said Hawthorn had offered picks 5 & 24, but it was rejected by GWS.
Now it seems set in stone that GWS will take Callaghan at ('live') pick 2 and it keeps getting mentioned Leon Cameron is a big fan.

Seems like a fairly big conversion on the road to the draft and I wonder if a club with an early pick (with added sweeteners) makes a decent last ditch offer if GWS will accept and it's just been a game of bluff on their part?

Chesser, Goater or Johnson for me. Get some more pace and/or height into that midfield.

Johnson was my draft favourite but will well and truly be gone by our pick.

Knevitt would be good, Owens as well but was injured relatively recently

All the talk of GWS trading pick 2 has come from outside sources. I can't recall ever once seeing GWS say pick 2 was on the table, unlike Crows have done with 4.

You could be right, I'm not super familiar with where players are likely to go. Knevitt looks good on paper but to me his highlights seemed like he could be a bit of a one trick pony in terms of his marking. I'm not sure if that's enough to hold down a midfield spot at AFL level.

If Johnson is a no go I'll instead replace him in my wish list with Sam Butler - looks a good little player.

*full disclosure* I know sweet fa about anything much

Johnston is going top 10, actually have him going to Hawthorn actually I’d hate it but seems a logical pick. Otherwise Freo at 6 or 8 (which become 8 and 10).

No situation in life can possibly be so bad that you need to listen to Taylor Swift.
Swift is like that sus burger joint down that alley that you know probably uses pure grease and black magic, but when you got the cravings you got the cravings.

But to pretend I want to stay on topic,

If we get Sonsie/Taylor at first and Bazzo on our second pick I'm more than happy. Though sounds like Kinnear isn't big on any of the talls this year besides Darcy.

Thank you for changing the subject. I'd hate for our first argument as a married couple to be about Taylor Swift.

I am also a Taylor fan (though not as much as you and hairy biker it seems) and would be stoked if we got him with our first. He's just the kind I reckon who would complement our existing mids quite well, and if we got more of a big-bodied enforcer type like Dittmar or Dubai Quacker's pick Sheldrick later on, then that would pretty much complete our midfield stocks for a decade.

That said, it would seem there's too big of a gap talent-wise between Sonsie and the rest of the mids mentioned around our pick for us to pass him up. I think it would be a no-brainer to select Sonsie if he's there. I don't think he's just 'a gun', I think he could be something really special, and whoever gets him if he slides, would be akin to us managing to get Errol Gulden for pick 32 last year.

I think Richmond will get Bazzo in their of picks 26,27,28
