Doesn’t say anything about the Gabba

Gillon said earlier this week that Lions will get a home final win or lose. Based on that it's likely to be Gabba. It makes a good story for AFL around finals going to all states as well. SA, Tasmania and WA covered already. We can add QLD to the list now.

We are flying back already.

Yeah the indication was Brisbane would be able to host a prelim but not a semi

It's easier for us to host semi than a prelim actually. SA has been in "no quarantine" list for a long time with WA.

And we'll be playing Port now in SA if we get to prelim so we'll continue to stay in the east coast unless we get to Grand final.

Bye after prelims just in case seems sensible. Means you can hub quarantine if need be wherever it happens to be held and just get it done. Maybe with longer ticket availability attending fans could even be supplemented into similar isolation and eased testing to ensure a decent crowd as well, as the Grand Final is the one game you'd like a crowd to be there.

Regarding some other sports around the same time, the US Open second week is prelim week, and the NRL is currently two weeks behind so they'd be entering Week 1 finals during our Prelim week.

This all seems high risk to me. He’s done a good job of protecting WA, but if there’s a single case on the day of a final he will stop crowds and the game itself could well be in danger. Don’t really see why they aren’t doing it in Adelaide. Both beautiful grounds.

Simply put.. $$$$ South Australia have a limited capacity. Why are Victorians so Anti West Australia?

From a reliable journalist:

If Perth grand final is night which seems likely a twilight preliminary is redundant
That’s not how it works. Twilight prelim is about allowing the winner to get home/wherever they need to be in a COVID year the same day as the game.

Any chance at all they bring the Grand final a week forward if nobody needs to quarantine, or do the multitude of factors involved mean it's basically locked into the 25th?
Whateley said this week it was likely locked in for 25th. Means 2 weeks off in 3 (or 1 game in 3 weeks is another way of looking at it) for Melb and Port if they make it.

Any idea what the cost of tickets for this week start at? I'm in Perth and will go to Optus, but would like to know an approximate cost. What did people who attended this week pay?
TIA.

Yep, playing in Brisbane has stuffed things up royally. Strict 14 days quarantine coming from from Brisbane so with a final there next Saturday night the winner can’t play in Perth for 2 weeks.
The AFL certainly are amazing at shifting the goalposts when it suits them

that's ok though, because the winner of Bris/WB plays Port in Adelaide the following week, they don't have to travel to Perth

But that’s why they have to have a bye after the Prelim. With Covid kicking off I would have had both semis and Prelims in Perth and Adelaide and gone straight into the GF.
Don’t think we should be delaying the season any longer than we need to
