Port (guns)
Geelong (guns)
St Kilda (on the up)
Brisbane (guns)
Richmond (can still win from here)
WC (last crack)
GWS (will surprise)
Collingwood (Don’t sleep on us, Buckley gone)
Melbourne (Goodwin gone)
WB (Beveridge gone)
Carlton (don’t rate Teague + injuries)
Sydney (good talent)
Fremantle (rate Longmuir)
GC (should be better by now)
Essendon (start strong then tail off)
Hawthorn (final year for Clarko)
North (toss of the coin with Adelaide)
Adelaide (ditto North)

That was surprisingly easy so it will probably be horribly wrong. The only bracket I struggled with was 8-11 because I can’t really separate them. They all have their strengths and weaknesses which on any given day will bubble to the surface. The only concern I have on our ability to press for the 8 is an injury to Moore. As an added bonus:

Clarko>Collingwood
Beveridge>Melbourne
Mitchell>Hawthorn
Lyon>Bulldogs

Buckley to be in the media for 2022 and then take on the GC or GWS role depending on who blinks first.

Rising star: Rowell who else
Brownlow: The Bont
Coleman: Big Joe (just to annoy Essendon)
Copeland: Adams
Our leading goal kicker: Cox (30+)
Big improver: Keane will get a lot more games and show us what he’s got.
Best 1st year player: Ollie Henry, he’s the only one who look like it atm but I’d like to see more if Bianco.
The big news: Every week there will be Buckley speculation.

Pretty simple really. 18/18 cya in a few months

Amazing how losing a guy who hardly played, one who played half and one who played s**t last year while we still made top 6 in a ****ed up year will make us bomb out of finals this year....

On one hand it annoys me that a lot of media people having us crashing to 12th or 13th. Sure we've lost high quality depth in Treloar, but we've won and made finals without him for large periods in previous seasons. Stephenson on talent is best 22, but he was in and out last year; neither Thomas or Hoskin-Elliott have repeated their 2018 form either, so we still have scope to improve on our list. Philips' best is on the wing and he provided good depth, but Daicos surpassed him last year. Really the loss of Treloar, Stephenson and Phillips has to varying degrees only diminished our depth.

On the other hand I'm rapt the media are writing us off. It will be nice to attract a little less hype.

Don't get me wrong I don't think we're contending for the flag I just think with a bit of luck we're better placed than some within the media are predicting.

We will see plenty of raw players in 2021, as we offloaded heaps of experience from our 2020 list

Reid
Varcoe
Beams
Dunn
Treloar
Langdon
Phillips

Even - the Berg, Broomy and Stepho had all played 30+ games of AFL

We were the oldest and most experienced lists in 2020, had 28 players who had played 30+ AFL games on our list.

We are down to just 19 in 2021, Daicos and C.Brown are now experienced players for us!!

For mine we are back circa 2014 equivalent where we will often start playing young and inexperienced teams and thus play inconsistent footy and finish mid table - 6th. Also noting that the majority of guys I listed were our injury prone players so won't actually be missed as much as names suggest as spent more time on sidelines than playing.

Agree with most of this.

At seasons start We have 23 players on list with 23 games or less. A lot of those are either 1st year or 2nd year players who missed VFL last year. Kids that are light in frame, inexperienced, learning their role and team structures

Even though Reid, Broomhead, Langdon, Dunn and co were always injured. They were experienced, mature bodies who could come in and play their role within the team structures.

Once injury/suspension hits... I see us playing multiple 1st and 2nd year kids at once and having all the issues that come with that.

Pretty fanciful then to project us to finish top 6 imo. Development year.

Hoping an injection of quality youth will rub off on the players with more experience and visa versa with the resulting strong team bonding. A more expansive attacking style and smart exploitation of the rule changes could see us entrenched in the 8, probably around 6th. We have all the ingredients, just need the chef to step up. Oh, and the required bit of luck.
