I'd be very happy with either. That being said, we haven't taken a 2nd rounder that I've been keen on pre-draft in the 10 years I've been following the draft, so I'm not holding my breathe.
Last time we picked a second rounder I was keen on was Kieran Harper.

Where does Cooper Harvey look likely to rank in the draft next year?

If we trade our first round next year we might not have a live pick until the third round. If he ends up a mid to late first round pick we could walk away with 2 first round players in next year's draft.

I wonder how that will factor in the clubs plans.

It's early days, but Cooper should not be shaping what we do for 2022 at this stage. He is isn't a certainty to even go in the 2nd round.

I've heard some pretty crazy suggestions around trading our future picks due to having him & I think that's just fairy tale stuff at this point.

Look no further then Collingwood, who had far more certainty that Daicos would go in the top 1 or 2 players - That trade of a future first is still a disaster.

Rendell (grain of salt)

"I think this is an outstanding draft - some real bargains in the 20s and 30s"

"I don't think North will bid on Horne, they very well may just take him at 1"

I only caught bits of it but was he was saying something like the average games played for Vic kids over the last 2 season is 6.7?

Covid has destroyed the VIC under 18s/VFL system for the past 2 years.
WA kids have generally progressed the most followed by SA.

Any chance we would trade our second rounder + something else to move up 4 or 5 spots to give us a shot at NWM?

Best to wait until draft night and do a similar trade on draft night if he is still available. He looks perfect for our list though.

Ligma, I might have this wrong, but this boy was your pick a time ago?
Hehehe yes I posted an article of him a month back or so! I think he is what we need mature age but still young, fingers crossed

Was a great idea to take a month off after 2 or 3 rounds.

Melbourne's strategy to draft midfielders really stands out. They're midfield used to be lead by Brayshaw (Pick 3), Viney (Pick 26 F/S), James Harmes, etc. and they've just kept recruiting better midfielders, like Petracca (Pick 2), Oliver (Pick 4), Langdon, and even Jackson (Pick 3).

Moral of the story. Hit the draft, take Horne-Francis, don't worry if our team is stacked with mids. Watch them grow.

Langdon has been one of the most important. Is fast, contested, runs both ways and he holds his width as a winger.

They also traded into a first rounder to spend on a great small forward. We need to be prepared to do the same.
