Without actually knowing the list situation at Freo, I thought picks may be able to do it, take the first two WA picks but not have any more until 7 or 8, but Freo probably aren't in desperate need of a deal like that

Yeah, got to see the glimpse of this against Gippsland in the final round, they bat deep as well given that Taylor, Clift and Matthews were played predominantly in defense that game (and I assume the GF) who are all arguably stronger as midfielders

The main trio seemed to Ling with Fleming and Hart, but they rotated lots of numbers through. There was at least one centre bounce with Fleming, Hart and McCormack, so entirely players that will be there next year.

I'm sure Fleming didn't actually come from nowhere, but it seems unreasonable for what was arguably already the best team to add a player of that calibre on the eve of finals. Her goal looked like it was from about 40 and it travelled as far as the fence behind. Looks like another exciting talent in an already ridiculously stacked draft.

hahaha yeah, been on the list all year but it's been a constant battle of cricket and footy commitments, which will likely continue at the next level as well. Chargers will be strong again next year regardless, but if she's in for every game it's probably a lock for Chargers v Stingrays Grand Final next year. They still have Thiele to come back from her knee surgery for next season as well which fixes their height in defence issue, and apparently have some pretty good 2005 girls already in their sights, so going strength to strength

I can only assume you haven't watched a lot of her, a strength of hers is her kicking and decision making woth it, usually holds her feet well

If Prespakis and Rowbottom go Vic 1 & 2 then I'd take Lee, Reid or Slender at 3. Right now I'd favour Lee

I may be misremembering, but I'm pretty sure when she first played against Gippsland Oakleigh talent manager mentioned that they're not overly worried that she'll choose one or the other, may be able to handle the balancing act

I really doubt that even the AFL have considered that, it'd be devastating to see though, and with those two in particular, imagine the carnage they'd tear up if they had to play an extra season of NAB League, it'd be unfair

I think that's close but I reckon Geelong will go Rowbottom. They'll be nervous about Prespakis wanting to head back to play with her sister after 1 year.

The biggest loser in the whole priority pick debacle is Richmond. Now that Geelong gets 2 other top 10 picks gift wrapped from Shocking they can take a risk with one of the 2 standouts.

Ignoring the interstate teams my guess on the Victorian picks will be:

It'll be interesting to see how the draft plays out and if VFLW performances will have much of an impact on how clubs rank players, girls like Woods, Sargent, Asciak, Meier, Condon, Hardy, Hutchinson, Khoury, etc. that weren't part of the Metro/ Country squads (Meier was, but isn't really being spoken about in here) that have had a few decent outings might surprise us draft night.

Jaide Anthony is one that I've liked all year, and has done well in her two Port Melbourne games, I wonder if that gets Richmond looking her way with the link? Where Yassir, Crowley, Friswell and Lennox, as those next level of Calder girls end up will be another point of interest for me, Pie 4 Life thinks I'm blinkered but Crowley in particular I really like and reckon she might be a top 15 sneaky for the VIC pool, just an elite mark and smart user of the footy, but being one without a clear best position and not a major ball winner may hurt her. Jemma Radford is another Dandenong Girl I expect to get taken, done really well as a versatile option at NAB and VFLW level.

I don't think they'll change the draft age this year and I'm certainly not advocating for an immediate change. From memory, they gave plenty of advance warning when they moved the draft age for the boys (~2013 from memory).

I'm equally ignorant to cricket so don't blame you one bit, Duffin and Hicks were the two I knew about but I'm not sure if they continued

It's something they have to consider though, and it'd be weird if they kept the draft age and said 'but you can't play until you turn 18', so some clarity would be good, but I think we've figured out that's a bit too much to ask for
