The womens game would be so much better if they learned not to fumble so much
So would the men's game.

Realistically it has no chance to be comparable until it's full of players who have grown up playing footy since they were kids, so that's still quite a few years away.
Until then there's not much point in lamenting the skills.

Congrats to the Lions. Deserving premiers.

Have you seen many of the men’s matches with such abjectly poor skills including the fundamentals of the game such kicking, hand balling, marking, tackling for the entire game?
Yes

And I'm sure the further back we went in history of the mens game we'd see that the skill levels on display today are vastly improved from when the league was less than a decade old

Not saying there isn't improvement to be had, but it's a joke if you've comparing a league that is 5 years old, where the player are part-timers where work & study commitments would take priority over the minimal time they are paid to be footballers working on & improving their game, to that of the male athletes who are full-time players that can focus on their football

Good game, Brisbane's defence as a whole should win all the awards. Great intensity for most of the game too.

Those coming in here complaining about the quality and that it's not the same as the men's AFL - what do they hope to achieve? Do you also criticise women's soccer and women's basketball? It is entirely unsurprising that semi-professional women are not as skilled as fully professional men, who cares? Enjoy the spectacle you goblins.

Congrats once again to Brisbane and AFLW as a whole for another successful season overall. I hope it keeps going if only for the sake of contributing to improving girls' participation in Australian rules football and sports in general - that is only a good thing.

So glad the girls got up to win today. Have been as good as any team since the competition started. Underated every year yet have now played 3/5 grand finals and finally get to salute. You bunch of legends!!
Plenty of character in the team. Been very easy to support with no Swans AFLW side.

Probably the most enjoyable AFLW GF to watch to date, defensive pressure was strikingly good (especially from Brisbane) and the intercept marking from Koenen and Lutkins in the first half in particular really set the Lions' win up, they were able to shut Adelaide's forward forays down and the Crows looked like they struggled to find alternative options when there wasn't as much space for them to work in. Obviously both teams wanted it, but ultimately it just seemed like Brisbane were more willing to do the desperate smothers, chases, tackles and diving knock-ons that decide important matches like this one.

I was only part-watching while doing something else, but seemed a pretty good game. A lot more depth in the kicking than previous years, its never going to macth the mens game in that regard simply due to biology. A lot wasn't delivered with precision, but nor is it in the fully professional mens game. It seemed to be everything that can be expected at this point of the league's development.
Yes, there are a few players in all squads who aren't really up to the mark - but as more come through and get more professional coaches, that should change.

Well done to Brisbane. Qld seems to have put a lot in to developing the womens game, even before the AFLW started.
