The result isn't what we wanted, but the game style, intent and process seemed very much a step in the right direction today - it's what we need to see the rest of the season

Round 5 voting is now closed, Round 6 voting for our match against the Blues is now open

Let's stick with the known formula for voting:

5 Rebecca Webster - having a great year, uses her body well, good in tight, kicks long and accurately.
4 Renee Garing - been great the past two weeks after a slow start to the season.
3 Amy McDonald - pity she is quite wasteful with the ball as she is as good as anyone in traffic.
2 Sophie Van De Heuval - a rare unequivocal 2021 positive; SVDH needed to step it up and has done so, justifying the club's investment.
1 Jordan Ivey - rock solid in defense this year, her tackle in the 2nd quarter to stop a certain Carlton goal was defensive excellence.

5. Webster
4. Amy McDonald
3. Garing - what a difference being in the guts has made, 30 disposals the first 4 rounds and 35 the past 2
2. Meg McDonald
1. Sophie VDH

HM - Barber, we just had a different look up forward today, the quicker ball movement helped but do did the personnel

Though it looks like it'll take something special for Amy to lose it from here

5. Amy McDonald - Might have played herself into an AA guernsey today. Some of her tackling was brutal.
4. Julia Crockett-Grills - Tough as they come.
3. Becky Webster - started the game brilliantly, had some quiet patches but finished the game in style with a nice snapped goal.
2. Laura Gardiner - Oddly serene player.
1. Meg McDonald - Great down back as usual, copped a knock, 'rested' up forward and still managed to have an impact.

5. Amy McDonald... Been bloody brilliant this year
4. Becky Webster... Loved her goal at the end and the celebrations, great final play to our season
3. Crockett-Grills... Doesn't have the flashiness of others, but damn she's one tough cat and love the way she goes about it
2. Gardiner... Looking forward to watching her continued development over the coming years
1. Cranston... How she played today is what we really needed to see from her earlier this season; her third quarter goal was pretty damn good

was just thinking about the bolded; her best game for the year, no doubt - got a bit more of the ball up the ground today, and watching her it became obvious she's been playing too deep all year.

winty has been a big advocate for getting Rocky back into the midfield rotation; I'm not too sure her aerobic capacity is what it should be - today's game was a bit of a pointer to how she might want to approach playing more time as a foward though; get on her bike a bit more often and venture out of the F50
