Story up today on AFL website. They've actually done a reasonable job with ours

---
With the addition of Adam Treloar, return of Josh Dunkley and continued growth of Bailey Smith, it's going to be jam-packed midfield. It could see Marcus Bontempelli play more minutes forward (just like Nat Fyfe) and Jack Macrae used on a wing. Stefan Martin gets the nod as No.1 ruck, while Tim English's flexibility to play forward squeezes him in. Mitch Hannan slots into a pocket, while Josh Bruce will be keen for a big off-season with the impending arrival of Next Generation Academy gun Jamarra Ugle-Hagan, who should play early. Laitham Vandermeer is incredibly unlucky but is next cab off the rank, while Rhylee West and Sam Lloyd will be also in the conversation despite being overlooked in the emergencies. Toby McLean will miss most of the year with his ACL. – Mitch Cleary

HB: Jason Johannisen, Alex Keath, Caleb Daniel
C: Jack Macrae, Tom Liberatore, Lachie Hunter
HF: Marcus Bontempelli, Josh Bruce, Josh Dunkley

I/C: Tim English, Bailey Williams, Ed Richards, Patrick Lipinski

EMERG: Laitham Vandermeer, Bailey Dale, Cody Weightman, Ryan Gardner

I'd absolutely be swapping Lipinski with Vandermeer. Lipinski doesn't bring enough of a point of difference, Vandermeer does.

Yeah agree. I feel sorry for Lipi as he has real talent (but sloow). McLean's ACL and Dunks going was his opening, but Dunks staying and Treloar coming instead. We might not see much of Lipi again.

I like the team but I can’t see them playing 4 talls forward. Would have thought Hannan, Weightman, Cavarra or Garcia get a look in. Can’t see JUH and Schache Playing in the same team.

Schache cultists will justify anything to accommodate their messiah.

Forget the question of how to give all the midfielders enough minutes around the ball. The biggest conundrum during the off season is what our forward line set up is going to be.

If Naughton and Bruce stay forward, then JUH and Schache make us too tall given Bont will rest forward. It will have to be one or the other of JUH or Schache. If Naughton or Bruce go back, then English / Martin are likely to rest through CHF. Either way, Wallis is an automatic selection, we need a small forward or two to maintain team balance. Throw in a resting mid perhaps.

Unless they have other ideas for Schache or JUH, it looks it will be one or the other in the forward line. Personally I would give first crack to JUH, but maybe that's just me.

Very solid team, like the pace we have now with Treloar, Smith, Johannisan, Vandermeer. Will be a force playing at Marval next year with that speed. Josh Bruce is really not needed forward. I would be throwing him at CHB as he would still be more competitive than Gardener.

We really do have the team to take us a long way. A lot things can go wrong but just consider if the following happens which is quite possible.

Treloar clicks and all our other star midfielders have excellent seasons
Martin helps English who puts on 5 kilograms and the combination is up there for the best in the league
Naughton has an injury pre season and clearly becomes the best young forward in the league.
Josh Bruce losses weight and has a good season
JUH has a top class first season and wins the Rising star
VDM has a break out season
Lewis Young finally becomes an automatic selection as a key defender
Bailey Smith has his best season and is a star
Defence of Keath, Young, Daniel, Crozier, JJ, Williams and Wood is one of the best in the league
Ed Richards finally lives up to potential.

Unlikely all these will happen but they far from pie in the sky predictions an are all feasible. On the flip side things can go pear shape but I think we are primed.

I can see Rhylee West cementing himself in the best 22 next year. I know we are stacked in the midfield but there will be an opportunity for him with McLean out. I really like the way he goes about it. He'd be my smokey to have a break out year.

I'd love to see him in that tagger role McLean was nailing.

I'm thinking running Naughton up back in the first few games as that contested/mobile interceptor beast. Bruce appears that lazy fwd & clunky back leave him out - Schache as that fwd he should be? (Check out his stats from round 14 2019)

Schache
