Lol seriously can we just have a ban on posting things ol clickbait Kornes says…

none of it is interesting and it’s all designed to just stir people up.

Hodgey wants a new rule! Hodgey gets a new rule.

No more clickbait shit from Cornes in here.

Also:
Can we also threadban Rendell quotes. The bloke is senile.
Done ✔️

Again, that's not what he said...

“Sam Mitchell should be able to walk into this football club and say look, I want to purge some of these players, let’s see if we can get X, Y and Z. Hopefully you get some picks in the 20s and can start the rebuild instantly. But because we allow the players to hold full control, this list is on hold”

That isn't what David said though, he said Sam SHOULD be able to do that, but he cannot under the current system. Pretty sure all of those midfielders destroyed us with all our big guns anyway so, not like they did a great deal
We beat the dogs and drew with Melbourne but keep going champ you obviously follow the game very closely

Just read a few posts on the Pies board and there are a few who would prefer to keep Lynch and trade out Grundy, some say he was much more impressive as a tap ruckman in the 2 senior games he played in.
Grundy hasnt been the same since his wallet weighed him down

David King was pretty spot on excluding the 8 year rebuild article heading

“Sam Mitchell should be able to walk into this football club and say look, I want to purge some of these players, let’s see if we can get X, Y and Z. Hopefully you get some picks in the 20s and can start the rebuild instantly. But because we allow the players to hold full control, this list is on hold.

“It’ll be a five or six-year rebuild because of the way we design this, and I don’t even know if it suits the player.

“I don’t know if it’s great for Gunston to finish this way, or Tom Mitchell to go through four years of what, just playing good footy that has no consequence, when they’ve got more to offer?”

King argued the players themselves would be better off accepting trades to try and win a premiership, knowing that shapes as very unlikely at Hawthorn in the coming years, and that going hard this year would be better for the Hawks, too.

“What are you about (as a club)? You’re about winning premierships,” he said.

“The club’s there to set up to win the next flag; you’re not gonna get anything for these guys if you fire sale them like that, probably, but the clubs have to have control.

“This is the old argument about whether you’re able to trade players in contract, and if you are, what does it do? I’ll tell you what it does; it brings an eight-year rebuild back to about four if you get it right.”

Not sure what's actually wrong with anything said
  1. Sam Mitchell knew the list he was taking over. Any list he took over as senior coach would have similar challenges. As has become a popular saying recently: "You get what you get and you don't get upset".

  2. Why should players lose agency over their lives and career because the club has decided to suddenly make wide-sweeping changes while they're under contract? They've moved their lives interstate for the club, many have property, partners with jobs in Melbourne.

  3. What if Gunston, Mitchell, etc. see more promise at their current club than they do elsewhere? If Tom Mitchell stays we could happen to spike up the ladder next year, while there's every chance Richmond (who he's been linked to) fail to rebound and end up spiralling (see Hawthorn 2016-17).

  4. Clubs do have control. They have the ability to not offer players contract terms that extend out so many years into the future. Yet clubs have proven time and again that they're more than comfortable to tie themselves to particular players long term to maintain more control on them staying - ie. when it's convenient for them.

Max Lynch
Age: 23
Games: 3
Season stats: 12 disposals - 3 marks - 3 tackles - 3 clearances - 21 hit-outs

Ned Reeves
Age: 23
Games: 5
Season stats: 10 disposals - 2 marks - 4 tackles - 27 hit-outs - 3 clearances

Here’s hoping this will be our next ruck duo for the next decade. :thumbsu:

Looks fairly mobile, neat kick and a good mark. No idea what his ruck work is like, but good mix with Reeves.

From all reports Max is a quality person to have around the club too.

Go have a look at him in the game where he was matched up against Max Gawn two ripper hit outs to advantage, one with his right hand and the other with his left.

Exactly what he said, picks in the 20’s is a joke for the quality of players mentioned, yet the media think it was fair trade last year when Essendon got pick 8 for Saad, a 27 year old half back flanker. The anti Hawthorn media are really pathetic.

Bombers really were kissed on the dick last year weren’t they?

I think our list is underrated. Getting Sicily Gunston impey and Will Day back next year is worth 2-3 spots on the ladder on its own. Add natural improvement of CJ, Moore, brambles, brockman.
I simply don’t see need to throw out our top players unless price is great such as pick 2. Picks in the 20s are pointless and the odds are that guys picked up at that point will play less games for the club than Tommy Jaeger and co will from here. Happy for no furtheir trades aside from max lynch
media still beating us up as news because there is literally nothing else happening.
