Lol seriously can we just have a ban on posting things ol clickbait Kornes says…

none of it is interesting and it’s all designed to just stir people up.

Hodgey wants a new rule! Hodgey gets a new rule.

No more clickbait shit from Cornes in here.

Also:
Can we also threadban Rendell quotes. The bloke is senile.
Done ✔️

How about instead of lamenting the fact that our older players with the most currency don't want to leave we look at the bright side...

Our older players who have no guarantee they'll be around for our next premiership are genuinely excited for the new direction of the club and want to stick around despite having the opportunity to leave.

That speaks volumes to the energy and culture of the group we have. I'd hate to see the club undermine that by trying to push quality players who have already bought into what is being built.

This is exactly how it's left me feeling. How many other clubs have been in a similar position and players prefer to leave to chase a flag!

The fact Mitchell, JOM, Chad, Gunners etc all seem to want to say is an amazing endorsement for where the club is and is going. Think it's also a big positive for Sam Mitchell that these guys want to stick around.

No one would blame them or hate them for asking for a trade to a team in contention, it's actually a pretty easy out for them.

While it would be awesome to have another one or two top picks, i certainly don't feel it's all doom and gloom if we don't end up there. Far from it.

I think our list is underrated. Getting Sicily Gunston impey and Will Day back next year is worth 2-3 spots on the ladder on its own. Add natural improvement of CJ, Moore, brambles, brockman.
I simply don’t see need to throw out our top players unless price is great such as pick 2. Picks in the 20s are pointless and the odds are that guys picked up at that point will play less games for the club than Tommy Jaeger and co will from here. Happy for no furtheir trades aside from max lynch
media still beating us up as news because there is literally nothing else happening.
If you stand still you are going backwards

I'm pretty happy with trade week so far. I am part of the silent majority who think we will be very competitive next year and that our late season form was a geunuine portent rather than some kind of weird aberration. If I am right, Bruest, Gunston, Wingard, O'Meara and Mitchell all have a chance of seeing finals action with Hawthorn.

It does seem a bit clunky having a garage sale of your best players and getting no decent offers. I hope there are no hard feelings between the players and the coach but I am assuming everyone understands that it is a professional game where every player is a commodity. I also imagine that Sam would have made it clear to each player that they are wanted and needed and will only be on the table if an offer comes in that is too good to refuse.

I am not surprised that the only serious interest so far has been in Wingard. He is a special player.

Max Lynch fills a need.

Max Lynch
Age: 23
Games: 3
Season stats: 12 disposals - 3 marks - 3 tackles - 3 clearances - 21 hit-outs

Ned Reeves
Age: 23
Games: 5
Season stats: 10 disposals - 2 marks - 4 tackles - 27 hit-outs - 3 clearances

Here’s hoping this will be our next ruck duo for the next decade. :thumbsu:
He is no Luke Lowden

Unfortunately, next year shouldn't really be the focus (in my opinion). It's about 3,4,5 years time - for that reason, we need to be making decisions that reflect that.

Once the deal is complete I'll have to go watch that game he played against Melbourne / Max Gawn

There’s a bit of a trade brewing that I can get behind… Ian Silk in for Jeff Kennett out

Let me tell you a story about Ian Silk, former CEO of Australian Super. A few years ago I had massive problems with the Australian Super support staff in getting them to fix an issue that they caused. Anyhow, after getting nowhere I thought that I would raise it at the Australian Super AGM when they allow the audience to ask questions. Anyhow, in front of a few thousand people I spoke on the mike to tell him my problem. He nicely asked if I could see him after the AGM which I did. He spent some time with me after the meeting and then had one of his offsiders follow up. They did and Silk got involved in the email exchange and checked that I was happy with the outcome. He's running the biggest industry fund in this country and he bothered to deal with a pleb like me. Anyhow when he decided to retire from Australian Super some years later I sent him an email thanking him for helping me out and wishing him the best. That Sunday he sent me a thank you email (not a pro forma job either). He's on the way out, it's a Sunday night on his own time and he's nice enough to acknowledge my email.

He's a great CEO and human being. Vote #1 Ian Silk for Prez !

Is Lynch a ruckman or a ruck/forward as are we going to have two ruckman who play the same way.
