Roll the dice on Knevitt anyone? JPK replacement by the sound of it if he comes good. Ranked in this at about our pick at 20.

Perhaps not given his ground ball handling skills are viewed as a weakness and Dalrymple has stated it one of the skills he credits highly.

I don't disagree with that at all. I do feel though that we had gone too far into a defensive mindset at the expense of scoring at all.
It seemed that our philosophy for some years was that it doesn't matter if we only score 8 goals because we will reduce our opponent to 7.
Yah, but I would prefer to be a team that wins 8 goals to 7 than 14 to 13.

Its frustrating and annoying, but it's a better base than the reverse.

I completely understand the pain of watching our scoring dry up (Geelong in 2017 and GWS in 2018 are lows) and it feels amazing to watch a team that can score.

I just feel like people unfairly malign what Horse did with a decaying list. 2018, 2019, and 2020 where years of massive change, and to bring the side through that period so effectively isn't only Pyke. Horse instilled belief and a desire to win during that while period.

It's evident how well we navigated that period when we compare ourselves to sides like Carlton or St Kilda.

I believe the biggest reason for our improvement last year was the change of game style which Pyke was responsible for. We no longer played the kick, mark, stop and wait. Kick short, wait again. then kick it back to where w]it all started.
As much as I love my team, I hated the way we played prior to last year. 10 goals in previous years was like kicking 100 points. Even when we had total domination over another side, we would only win a quarter by 2 goals so when momentum turned our lead was very quickly overtaken.
There's no doubt that the players loved playing with more freedom as well.
Bingo …
100% agree.

IDK, looks to me like they were struggling to find something to write. Who doesn't "'occasionally fumble at ground level"? Seems to have a lot in the plus column, but then again they all do this month. If he didn't make it as a mid, has the size at 194cm to be tried out as defender too. Certainly wouldn't be throwing my toys out of the cot if we picked him.

So next Thursday night we will know all (or most of) all the questions we have asked over the past 200 odd pages.
We will then spend another 100 pages discussing the rights and wrongs of every decision and compare our draft hand to other clubs.
But, what do we talk about after that????
In my case, I'll be hanging out for the DT player positions and prices to be made known so I can start working on my 2022 DT squad.
Houses.
And who is training them down.

Side note as it was mentioned before.

I reckon the biggest reason for our change of game plan last season wasn’t Pyke idea specifically but a response to the change in the rules (6/6/6 followed by stationary man on the mark).

It just so happened that the list makeup we were working towards were the right type for us to adjust the game plan to suit the change to the game and the strengths of our players.

Pyke certainly made a large contribution to that but I reckon it was born out of the rule changes more than anything else (and we were recruiting to move toward this type of football years prior).

Agree, we had already reshaped the list to concentrate on kicking and decision making skills and had already started to implement a more direct style of play through the corridor (early rounds 2020 we played that way but we’re cut up the other way and our midfield really struggled and was exposed).

The standing on the mark and some tweaks from Pyke (around positioning and ball movement) just put the icing on the cake that has been baking for a couple of years.

Having a good defence is important but it is important to be a good scoring team too. Most teams who win the flag are capable of regularly scoring over 100 points.

And that ability to score comes from a defence that can absorb the pressure and score from the back 50.

Premierships are won or lost on nothing more than your back 6 and your ability of your midfield to run both ways.

Also, it was clear early in 2019 that we were attempting a new game plan but we didn't have the players at the level required to perform to this game plan 100% of the time.

Some people need to go back to 2019 and 2020 and watch those games, particularly early in the year when you are starting with a plan to implement your own style.

To say that we played defensive football in 2019 and 2020 and it all changed in 2021 is just flat out wrong.

It is a cliche but "the best defence is a good offence" as well since actually having the ball prevents your opponent from having it.

Still keen on getting Long. Looks like he could be a POD in the middle for us.

Personal favourite is Post-Orgasmic Depression, but in this case Point of Difference

'Passed out drunk' could be interesting in a footy context..

Imagining a country football commentary along the lines;
Commentator 1;And BigBob is passed out drunk again in the middle, but thankfully not on the centre circle this week.
Commentator 2; Aye Horrie, he's a big lad to move, but I'm sure he'll come good in the 3rd quarter as he usually does.
