lets hope he goes after pick 6 Jen so we don’t have to further trade in points or go into deficit. Need to have points for dib too.

Out of interest was it you or another bf pie poster who overheard recruiters talking about him at the last nab league game?
Yeah that ain’t happening.

Daicos not named to play in the Vfl tomorrow. Wonder if the 6 day break had anything to do with that since the academy game . Or maybe they just couldn’t find a spot for him 🤷‍♀️

On iPhone using BigFooty.com mobile app
The WA boys are playing either Colts or PSA. Normally if it’s a rule re a minimum days break, they would all have to abide so it can’t be that. Hope he’s ok

Can someone reveal the hype for Horne. I just watched some highlights, and lacks a penetrating kick, tad selfish, interesting handball. When I say hype, I say hype for #1. THey say plays like Ablett, but I just don't see it.

Compare him to Macrae when he was in the juniors and Macrae showed so much more. I followed that draft closely.

Roberts looks pretty good though.

The word is that he already has AFL standard defensive running. Is very explosive and athletic, strong core, doesn’t kick chase and normally is an elite kick. I’ve also heard that he’s being played on a flack for south he’s a natural onballer. I’m Not the most qualified to make a call though.

2021 10 Players To Watch

Braden Andrews
Oakleigh Chargers/Vic Metro
189cm 83kg
Midfielder

A tall extractor type in the Josh Kennedy mould Andrews has terrific hands at stoppages and can win the ball at ease both at stoppages and on the outside, played a variety of roles at the 16s championships and did well enough to win AA honours.

Campbell Chesser
Sandringham Dragons/Vic Country
185cm 79kg
Midfielder

A nice sized midfielder with a burst of speed, Chesser is an elite athlete with clean hands and classy foot skills, a dangerous player capable of winning his own ball but also proving run on the wing. Could be used as a rebound defender aswell.

Arlo Draper
South Adelaide/South Australia
186cm 68kg
Forward/Midfielder

A talented and athletic player with a lot of upside, Draper has plenty of scope to hopefully develop into a tall midfielder who can rest forward, he has clean hands above his head and at ground level and has speed to burn. Could be anything.

Ben Hobbs
GWV Rebels/Vic Country
182cm 76kg
Midfielder

An absolute ball magnet, Hobbs thrives on the contested ball but also thrives on winning the ball in general as he will work hard forward and back and tackle like a mad man. Showed his class playing as a defender for the Rebels this year still managing to hit over 20 disposals, he is future AFL captain material.

Jason Horne
South Adelaide/South Australia
184cm 75kg
Midfielder

Horne is a powerhouse midfielder who attacks the ball hard and fast and equally so when tackling so he has a great balance to his midfield game, he is also capable playing other positions if needed with his ability overhead and class and clean hands with the ball. Plenty out of SA think he could even push for senior selection this year.

Blake Howes
Sandringham Dragons/Vic Metro
189cm 75kg
Forward/Wingman

A major threat in the air Howes has great leaping and marking ability and can even clunk a contested mark already despite his slender frame. A smooth mover with good skills to boot he has also grown 2cm in the past year and would be a tantalising prospect if he grew to a key position height with his already impressive leap and hands overhead.

Josh Rachele
Murray Bushrangers/Vic Country
179cm 77kg
Midfielder/Forward

The Kevin Sheehan medalist and Vic Country MVP is a talented and classy player with great skills and composure and an ability to hit the scoreboard with relative ease. Can also do the hard stuff when required and managed 30+ disposals against WA showing he is more than just a silky forward type.

Matthew Roberts
South Adelaide/South Australia
183cm 76kg
Midfielder

A busy midfielder able to play on the inside and outside he is a running machine and lovely kick on his favoured left boot. Roberts has a lot of skill and scope to play a range of roles which would make him even more enticing to clubs.

Josh Sinn
Sandringham Dragons/Vic Metro
186cm 72kg
Utility

The Vic Metro captain has similar traits to Hawthorn premiership star Luke Hodge with his marking and kicking ability from half back, he also has the ability to go forward or even through the midfield so could still be anything. Tough, quick and with a long raking left boot he imposes himself on contests.

Tyler Sonsie
Eastern Ranges/Vic Metro
181cm 74kg
Midfielder/Forward

An incredibly gifted footballer who can hurt the opposition Sonsie has all the tricks in the book able to kick goals with ease, win the ball with ease and get around opponents wth ease. The Metro MVP had 19 disposals and kicked 4.3 against WA and had a brilliant game in the NAB League paired against Hayden Young he had 20 disposals and 6 tackles.

HAHA one of those videos ripped the chords straight out of a Katy Perry song

The word is that he already has AFL standard defensive running. Is very explosive and athletic, strong core, doesn’t kick chase and normally is an elite kick. I’ve also heard that he’s being played on a flack for south he’s a natural onballer. I’m Not the most qualified to make a call though.
Very close look at him tonight and he worked hard off the ball but just couldn’t get into the game. Probably the worst league game he has played. The bigger and more experienced Norwood bodies worked him over

The WA boys are playing either Colts or PSA. Normally if it’s a rule re a minimum days break, they would all have to abide so it can’t be that. Hope he’s ok
I bumped into him at the vfl game today. Its that quad issue he had in round 1 of nab league bothering him. He wants to get it right before playing VFL. Hopes he'll be right next week.
Nice kid though, doesn't mind a chat.

im curious as to where you see Jason Horne going in the draft and who you think should be number 1 pick? im always willing to change my mind if im convinced of the truth.

Jason Horne
pros:
strong and good height
can move quick out of a contest
goal kicker
contested player

cons:
not a big disposal getter
can work on being cleaner with disposal

i am curious to see how he does against his peers in the state games, it will confirm what we all suspect or expose a weakness? we will see?

At Under 18 level he was winning a truckload of the pill.

I'd say playing more mid/half forward at SANFL level plus the large step up in standard where he is no longer the number 1 man is having a fair effect on that.

he has his u18 stats from 2019, out of 8 games he had 2 games of 20+ poss(24 and 28), he had 2 games of 15+, and the other 4 less than 15, they dont have 2020 stats, but im sure he did well in the 4 games before being promoted to the sanfl seniors, where he has performed well, even being selected for the state team, im not arguing his quality, just stating he usually isnt a big stat winner, more an impact with average disposal count type of player.

he was under 16s in 2019. Not sure why SANFL have made it hard to get 2020 numbers but he was getting BIG numbers in 18s before his call up

Yeah this ain't it, was getting 30's regularly in the 18s last year 👍

i was quoting a person saying he won a truckload of the pill in u18's, btw he played u16s and u18's in 2019

2019 - averaged 15.7 disposals in 8 games
2020 - lets say he averaged 30 in 6 games

u18s career averaged 22 disposals

im trying to be accurate, its not a question of how good he is, he is likely pick 1 or 2, i love his physicality, i love how he goes about it, i was saying the one query was his disposal count could be better whether thats at u18 or in the SANFL, i dont see that as an unfair statement.

it was a response to my previous post where i posted this

Whats peoples general consensus about the quality of the players between #10-#40 this year
is the quality as high as was anticipated with the extra players that supposedly didnt have the chance to develop their craft and show their talents last year (vic)

or is is about the same every year and what about the numbers that are expected to be drafted at the end of the year 60 ? 70 ?

if we are talking straight u/18's the quality is generally similar to the last few years, but i personally think we may see more latter picks turning into gooduns, but if we lump them all together adding the kids that missed out last year due to no form to show, the depth lengthens out a bit more as there is more choice.
When it comes to amount of picks that may be used i think there will be a few more than last year and numbers overall may be a bit higher than the last few years, HOWEVER, it does depend on the mid season draft we now have also....if some of them work out and stay with clubs, then those clubs will have less picks to use or if they dont work out there will be more picks. Once the mid season draft is done and dusted we will have more of an idea, but it wont be until closer to the end of the year as to see whether those picks are going to work out at the clubs and then know how many picks may be used at the end of season draft.
Probably doesn't help you very much with an answer but that is how it will be looked at and what comes into consideration.

I wouldn't be giving his 2019 stats quite as much weight as his 2020 stats at Under 18 level given how damn young he was 15 turning 16 is a fair effort to nail 2 over 20 in Under 18's. He also had a 43 touch game in the Under 16's which consisted of 24 kicks 19 handballs 19 marks 6 tackles, 6 clearances and 3.2 when he was 15. He slayed Under 18's last year and if he was left there every week like Tom Powell, he wouldn't have been that far behind him for totals disposals. He's a pretty good ballwinner and certainly up there overall. He is however, better defensively than a lot of kids his age and that especially is happening more at league level when defensive efforts are more standard than Under 18 and he's got a lot more better players around him. I wouldn't expect him to average more than about 12-15 at league level this year. Once he's established at AFL level, he will get 25-30 many weeks.

Speaking of big numbers, Matty Roberts another decent day out in Under 18's with 33 touches 22 kicks 11 handballs 8 marks (2 contested) 9 tackles 8 clearances and 10 I50's plus 2.1.

He should be playing ressies at an absolute minimum
Any other club he'd playing 1's, insane
