do tell!!
He sounds like he is a ready made AFL mid already. Some big numbers there for those 2 games, how damaging is he with his disposal?Correct he's around the mean average for current AFL midfielders and bigger bodied than a lot of them already....will be interesting to see his and others measurements after tomorrow's Vic Country Combine over in Bendigo.
A STERLING return to the field has seen midfield prospect Ben Hobbs waste no time in breaking into AFL.com.au's rolling NAB AFL Draft Team of the Year.![]()

Check out draft guru Cal Twomey's updated Draft Team of the Yearwww.afl.com.au
Hobbs missed two months with an ankle injury at the start of the season, but a very swift return to his best has reminded recruiters of his abilities as an inside midfielder who can also push forward and hit the scoreboard.
The Greater Western Victoria Rebels regained Hobbs two weeks ago and he dominated with 34 disposals, eight clearances and 2.2. He backed it up last week as Vic Country skipper in one of the under-19s trial games with an even more commanding showing, finding 37 disposals (including 14 in the first term), nine marks and two goals.
He's no Sam Mitchell just yet but he's an upgrade on several of our current midfielders that's for sure, and can really stick a brutal tackle.....and has really started to find the scoreboard in bunches since focusing on his outside game this season. Not really any glaring deficiencies in his game that I can see, all round solid footballer hence most have him as player that looks to be almost a certain 200+ type AFL footballer. There might be several more "sexier" type midfielders in this draft but I doubt there's any that will perform more consistently at a high level.He sounds like he is a ready made AFL mid already. I like him too. He oozes confidence.Thanks for the reply
I'm keen for us to take him, especially if Callaghan is gone at our pick. We need to add as much quality into our midfield as possible, and Hobbs seems to be the most certain to become a genuine A grade mid at AFL level.
I saw plenty of Jacob Hopper here for both the Rebels and St.Pat's and I believe Ben Hobbs compares very favourably with Jacob especially given he hasn't had the opportunities to strut his stuff nearly enough through Covid's intervention the last 2 seasons.Thanks for the reply

On this episode of the Bigfooty Draftcast, The_Wookie hosts a 3 round phantom draft for our draft experts eDPS, ModernArtillery, Pie 4 Life and PMBangers to participate in, each taking 4 clubs and running through selection-by-selection. Who does your club pick? Which fans will be the most outraged? Where does BigFooty's Own Neil Erasmus (BFONE for short) get selected? Listen through to find out, and hear the rationale of the selections for your club!
All selections, and club allocations can be seen here;
Questions for the listeners;
Is there anyone you would have preferred at any of your selections?
Who were the bolters and sliders?
Who were some of the players that missed out that shocked you?
If thats the case..where do we signI saw plenty of Jacob Hopper here for both the Rebels and St.Pat's and I believe Ben Hobbs compares very favourably with Jacob especially given he hasn't had the opportunities to strut his stuff nearly enough through Covid's intervention the last 2 seasons.
Hey Adelaide fans,

Thankfully not!!..in fact it was the absolute dead opposite - they got in as the very first free agency moveThey are going to draft him in the rookie draft apparently.
Have to remember we won’t have pick 23 almost certainly as have to believe will be used for DawsonErasmus and Roberts with our first two picks? Start the car.

Well that's exactly the type of player Hopper was at the Rebels, this year you can see the improvements Ben has said he was focusing on his outside game and becoming a goal kicking midfielder....his inside game was already at an elite level.If thats the case..where do we sign

We have to wait for the AFL to confirm, but that Zero Hanger website is running with we are getting NO compo pick for KellyNah i'm waiting on us to get an end of 2nd for Kelly as comp, so that we'll have that and the Melb 2nd.
Throw both of those at the Swans and it values Dawson around Pick 18![]()

Where has this been reported other than an amateur writer on Zero Hanger?No compo pick for Kelly, zero, zilch, Nada
AFL is corrupt, you can't judge every player on a midfield salary
Gee calm down.No compo pick for Kelly, zero, zilch, Nada

If Silver's isn't on the phone to the AFL right now saying wtf??? A 26 year old best 22 player for the last 5 years can't even get us a compensation pick but a fringe player from Richmond will net them a second rounder is freaking stupid
Ok so it isn't official then?Where has this been reported other than an amateur writer on Zero Hanger?
Not yet anyhow and I'm certain not even the major media outlets would be able to confirm it until the AFL release it, a bit of guees work on the author's part which obviously someone has picked up on because it's been removed.Ok so it isn't official then?
I just checked the AFL website and it says "Adelaide will be granted a draft pick if Kelly's deal with the Bombers is large enough to trigger compensation."
