Our changes on the list so far are

Out: Houli, Astbury, Chol, CCJ, Naish, Garth, Biggie, Cumberland and Egg (Rookie)
Ins: Tarrant

So that gives us 7 Senior list spots, allowing us to take 7 live picks to the draft. 0 Free rookie spots as we had one too many rookies as is when we bought in Parker for Soldo when we moved him to the LTI list

They have committed to re-rooking cumberland and Biggie. So that tells me we are looking to most likely use 4-5 picks, live trade our last two picks (38 & 40) on draft night. elevate probably pickett and stack to the senior list with picks we receive at the end of the draft that hold no value, to then free up two spots on the rookie list for cumberland and Biggie

Draft watchers, tell me more about Sheldrick. Sounds like a type that would suit us with a later pick.

Was just thinking this yesterday. Especially if we keep 38.
5 foot 10 inch...not exactly a big bull clearance mid...looks like it's fully grown at 17yo...man-child...
Yeah, I gathered "low upside". But as an immediate impact ball winner, sounds like you could do a lot worse. I picture something like a Jack Graham/Dion Prestia type.

Gus Sheldrick is the kid who did the job on JHF in the first WA v SA U19 Champs game. It was widely reported that JHF had a disappointing game and that was down to Sheldrick doing a job on him. He got in front of JHF at the centre bounces and took away his run at the ball and managed to get plenty of possessions on the inside himself. He's disciplined and tough. I liken him to Axel Foley.

In the recent 3rd Champs game played in Adelaide, he was judged best on ground and kicked the winning goal. The kid can play. He's your in and under and dish it out mid with a strong defensive mindset.

If we miss on Hobbs we might consider him with a later pick. He wouldn't be the worst choice.

Having said that I think our third round picks are unlikely to get used (list space) as we try to trade up into the earlier rounds to give us 4 picks inside 25 and perhaps even including another first rounder.
Was best on ground in the WAFL colts imo. For someone his size he dominates. Am super impressed and he’s still only 17. Wouldn’t mind picking him up.
I saw 3 games with this kid and he was best on in all 3
Confident in Our WA man if he says yes.
Look at our WA gems.
Broad
Baker
Pickett

Which is also one of Hobbs' biggest assets. It also happens to not be strengths of alot of those guys you listed. A major weakness in a few of them even.
Not sure about that

To me Hobbs just screams 'man child'
Has the strength and game to be elite at that level but his game looks developed and ceiling lower at AFL level
traits of Anthony Banik

But Matt Clarke would know

Updated Depth Chart post trade period.

While I was looking at the depth chart a few things clearly stood out.

Firstly, our KPP stocks are in pretty poor shape. We've got Jack Lynch Tarrant and Balta for the seniors, with Miller likely to be the only depth we'll have by time list lodgement comes around at the end of the month, while Ryan may get used as option up forward in a jam.

Secondly we inside midfielders in Ross RCD Dow & Martyn all waiting for their chance to crack the team.

Which leads me to thinking that we may just do the unexpected at the draft and instead of going after midfielders like Hobbs Ward Erasmus and co that we actually target the likes of Gibcus Van Rooyen Amiss Williams Bazzo with our first 3-4 picks to restock our KPP stocks while everyone else is fighting over the midfielders.

As we all know KPPs take longer to develop that midfielder/flanker types so getting in at least 2-3 of them this year would give us at least 12 months of development time while we still have Jack in particular still going around.

If we could somehow land Gibcus at 9, Van Rooyen/Amiss at 17 and Williams/Bazzo at 26/28 and then add some more outside run like Sinn Chesser Roberts Goater I believe our list would be much better balanced as we begin the refresh of the list for the next era of success.

Incorrect

We won't know ow many we're taking to the draft until we're told who is being moved from the rookie list to the senior list.
We currently have 5 rookie players but have told Cumberland and Biggie we will take them in the rookie draft which means we have to move at least one player to the senior list. How many players that are moved from the rookie list will determine how many senior spots we have available.

Our delistings/retirements as I understand them:

Houli; Retired
Astbury; Retired

Naish
Cumberland
Nyuon
Garthwaite
Eggmolesse (R)

CCJ; Traded
Chol; Traded

Brought in:

Tarrant

Means our main list now has 7 vacant spots, but our rookie list is still full.

We'll probably upgrade 2 rookies to the main list after the draft giving the spots to Cumberland & Nyuon leaving 5 spots to fill.

Can't move rookies to the main list until after the draft. Which will then open the spots for the 2 you mentioned.

Thats what i also gathered

Lets hope other teams dont cut our lunch and take Biggie (Im a bit worried the saints may take him back with a late pick)

This is wrong.

we have 6 rookies already Stack, Pickett Miller, Parker, Aarts, Mansell.Assuming we resign miller, we will need to elevate two. We ended up with 7 rookies to end last season as we took parker and moved soldo to the LTI.

We will be taking 7 live picks to the draft as thats how many senior list spots we have avaliable and that wont change unless we decide to delist a contracted player now. Rookie elevation are made in the draft, so regardless we are taking all our current picks to the draft to, we will most likely take 4-5 picks in the draft but try to live trade picks 38 and 40 for either aearlier pick or a future pick.Thenuse picks that hold no value we are given t the end of the draft for 2 rookie elevations to make space for biggie and cumberland who we have committed too.

that's right i forgot about Aarts. been trying to forget about him since the season ended.

Egg was a rookie.
We have four live picks as it stands, which makes 38 and 40 useless.
Unless we demote two players like Cumberland and Biggy to the rookie list?
EDIT: I think our rookie list is full
Yep . .I know egg was a rookie ..was I mistaken in thinking if we delisted Garth that we then had five senior list spots available ..?

It's just what the write ups by the draft watchers say, I wouldn't have a clue. Seems like the sort of character we'd be into early though.
