Not sure why we threw in another future 3rd rounder though....
Three picks in a row is very tantalizing.
I think we paid overs for Pick 27, but looking at next year, we may only take 3 selections (our first, North second and our second) so fair enough although, that pick is a good asset for future trading. Not totally happy or unhappy, but now can look forward to draft night with us being the big players.

Why would we only take 3 picks next year though?
There's just as much chance the team crashes and burns with age compared to resurges to finish top 4. So taking 3 picks after finishing mid table won't be a great look.
The value on the deal is bad either way IMO. But 3 picks in a row has some extra value to it I guess.
8 top 30 picks in two years is a pretty good way to start to re-develop.
Other element is that as it stood, we wouldn’t have been using 40. So to add a future third to the deal is really - for us - trading two useable picks for 27. I know that’s taking a narrow narrative in that could pick 15+38/40 have moved us up to say, 11. But still, we could afford to somewhat overpay.
You're right, either way it won't make much of a difference.
Just would've preferred future 4th to 3rd in the deal.
We paid a premium for that pic ...

Nailed that one. Are you hearing anything else we might do?Not sure why we threw in another future 3rd rounder though....
Not really. We were a good chance to be ‘passing’ on pick 40 anyway given our list spots. And the future 3rd was another pick we may not be using. And having 26,27 and 28 is massive, as it allows you to select players far more strategically without being concerned another ream will chime in and ‘steal’ someone you want.
And finally, if by 26,27,28 there’s only 2 players we really like, then it will be easy to off-load 28 to a Carlton, Saints etc…. for a future pick if there’s a player they really like remaining on the board at 28, further strengthening our 2022 draft hand.
Great work Tigers !

Spot on. This does also not include the potentiality of trading out players who won't be in our next flag window at the end of next year. Lets just say hypothetically Caddy, Arts, Broad, or someone mid to late 20's who is contracted like a Rioli has a massive year, you might be able to trade 1-2 of those for 2nd and 3rd rounders (obviously assuming very strong performance). Just before the titanic sinks to the bottom 4 of the ladder when our top 5 retire or become ineffective, we can trade out a fair few to front-end the rebuild again. This could allow us to literally only have to bottom out for 2-3 years at most as opposed to 5-7 traditionally. In addition to the above you could bring in a Tarrant or two to keep that last dance going if it had some 2023 juice (highly doubtful but you never know). There is just no way you can get enough of those top 5 draft pick game breakers without having a couple years near the bottom. You simply need them to contend.I'm hoping that too. Use four top 30 picks up to 28 and then offer it to the highest bidder. And then 2022 a first rounder and three 2nd rounders including a potentially very early one in North. If the cards fall our way it could be as many as 8 top 30 selections in 2 years. This is serious list regeneration we are talking about here.

I really hope we aren't looking to move up the draft now we have 5 picks inside the top 30.
If the player we want at 7 isn't there as someone else has mentioned then we should definitely look at trading it for a 1st rounder next year and just taking our remaining 4 picks into this year's draft.
We could potentially trade both 1st rounders next year for King if he looks to be coming home.
How do you know that's to our advantage? Are Carlton not coming?
