I’d be holding on our picks. Don’t sell the farm for 1 early pick
No, it’s not correct. The northern academies are exempt from the top 20 rule. Just typical that yet again, they gain unearned benefitsThis is correct we would have to take him at 15. Yes i have heard similar with our interest. Perhaps we tell the Giants take 7 & 15 for 2 or else watch us take him at 15.

He was OK. Maybe our expectations were too high and we wanted a messiah.
I personally think expanding the league to 18 teams has diluted the talent so much that we see more and more average/role players.
A guy like Tambling who was good for 20 touches a week and maybe a goal here and there would be fine in most teams.
I also think this is why the game is quite crap to watch these days. Too many hacks. If we had less teams then the standard to earn a game every week would be higher and we'd be watching better footy.
Every time we do a 'state of origin' match (2008 and recently after the bushfires) I always thoroughly enjoy the game due to the top shelf talent.
Think hawks take himWard would be excellent if drops to tigers...
Where do we sign? Freo seems to be getting butt ****ed though.Just saw this trade suggestion on the Freo board and thought it had merit for us and GWS. Thoughts?
It was a Freo fan who suggested itWhere do we sign? Freo seems to be getting butt f’ed though.

Tambo's problem was someone in recruiting suggested he was going to be the best ever kid drafted out of the NT. Just a bit of pressure on him.
Then there was the constant comparison with Buddy.
Everyone forgets that Buddy was highly rated but had a bad carnival when he came to Vic in the wet. To quote Weaver "he looked like a superhero who'd lost his powers". And of course on draft day us, the Dawks and Dogs all had the chance of getting him with our first pick, and didn't.
Missing Buddy was like missing Lockett, but life goes on. Like Melbourne not picking Dusty!!!
Would be OK for us.Just saw this trade suggestion on the Freo board and thought it had merit for us and GWS. Thoughts?
Don’t really get the Tambling hate
He wasn’t a bad pick
Was clearly rated one of the best picks at the time of drafting and was the right move at the time
Bloke still played over 100 games for us
Would be OK for us.
Way too generous for Freo.
Not bad for GWS if they are not interested in Callaghan but more interested in Andrews and/or Gibcus.
Our 26 should go to GWS, not Freo.
If I remember correctly, it was when Wallis got sacked and Rawlings came in and moved him to half back. He looked like a completely different player and was very exciting to watch in those few weeks. Pity he couldn't keep that going![]()
Hawks smashed that draft withExtraordinary to think we could have drafted:
Brett Deledio/Jarryd Roughead
Lance Franklin
Nathan Van Berlo
Matt Rosa
Mark LeCras
Ivan Maric
All in the one draft...eek
A draft hand like that now would be insane!
Trengove/Scully over Dusty has now become a bigger blunder than tambling over Buddy simply because we will have Dusty for 15/16 years compared to Hawks having Buddy for 7 yearsI agree with this. It was not a surprise at all when we took him at 4. What annoys me is you never hear anywhere near as much commentary of ‘McCartin over Petracca’ or ‘Billings over Bont’ or ‘Trengove over Dusty’ in comparison to ‘Tambling over Buddy’….. poor Tambling has been crucified from day one…. if was taken at 15 he would have been said to have carved out a handy career.

Looking back we got a bloody good trade from the crows at the timeHe got compartment syndrome in his calves at the end of 09 from memory (which was his best season I think), same as Brown after his broken leg in 05.
It meant they had to cut the skin open so his swollen muscle wasn’t constrained by his skin. As I understand it, it can result in dead muscle tissue. He never really recovered after that.

Haha He couldn’t care less about other clubs mate, tigers obsessed just how I raised him. He also only watches the games we win so not many from that era![]()
There is a particular game against the swans where Andrew Collins kicks 3 in the last and we get up and win after being down by 5-6 goals. Fair to say he’s not a fan of the Grigg trade haha. Going off topic now tho I’ll leave it at thatJeez he would have to watch alot of games twice haha

Mate was talking to me about him today. Very agile , but not quick or strong overhead for his size :Ned Long is a big big mid for an 18 year old if these FoxSports stats are correct
Ned Long (Northern Knights/Vic Metro, 193.3cm, 93.3kg)
I know he’s a mid but that’s kpp size
Anyone seen him play? I know a poster linked him to us months ago. There’s not much footage I can find on him
I was at that game with my Canadian GF who became a convert to the code and the Tiges from that day on because of the beserk atmosphere in the punt rd end in the last 15 mins. sounds like Shaun Grigg
Well said mate. Him and Danny Meyer especially if drafted to the tiges now would have flourished. Super talents!I was a big Tambling supporter, my point is that he would have played a hell of a lot longer if he came in today’s system
