If Ward and Hobbs are both off the board by our firsts pick, I'm liking the idea of taking Sonsie with our first pick. It might be higher than what most rate him, but he has shown he can play against men, having lined up in the VFL and playing quite well. When you read more about his attributes and his player comparison, which happens to be Cotchin, grabbing him may be the right way to go instead of going after a WA kid like Erasmus or Johnson who could do a Cerra in a few years time and look to head back home.

Have a read of his profile here and make up your own minds but I wouldn't be unhappy at all if we call out his name.

You really underestimate what it'd be like to play for Richmond. The family like culture and huge support, they'd feel like home as soon as they walked in the doors. Sonsie has every chance to be there at #17. You'd take Erasmus or Johnson at #9 everyday of the week before Sonsie.

I don't underestimate what it's like to play for Richmond, and just because we haven't had many players up and leave while we've been a contender it doesn't mean that it will remain that way.

Do you dont think we should take any players outside of Victoria on the basis they might want to go home ?

Don’t think we should worry about the go home factor at all, We go for the best player no matter where they are from
Worst case is they request a trade in a few seasons time and we get compensated in a trade

What I'm saying is that if we rate kids around the same level then maybe the local kid gets preferred when they weigh up everything.

Could potentially be pick #7 + another top 10 pick for a kid thats played less than 10 games in 2 years

Lets hope we dont get Egg on our faces trying to make that omelette

Richmond offered the farm for Horne iirc - so maybe calla to tigerland is possible.

Like some people have been saying it's hard to find another prestia martin cotchin and you have to take a chance sometimes

I would only trade #7 + #28 for a 3 pick upgrade to crows or #7+F2 to GC or GWS as they would value future picks more
otherwise take our existing picks and - GET THEM RIGHT
