For me a mid must have intensity, do you believe he has enough? vis a vis Hobbs/Sheldrick/Erasmus (for instance)
Really depends on what you mean by intensity as it comes in different forms imo
If its the brute intensity of Dusty , De Goey , Bont , Fyfe , Yeo then no but But if we are talking about a Pendlebury , MaCrae , type of intensity then yes
Jack Macrae is probably the type he looks like which is not a bad outcome imo

Not sure how rated Smythe's is as draft guru but his description of Hobbs sounds good:

Ben Hobbs is someone who you always get what you expect and the gap between his best and worst games is the slimmest in the draft pool, his potential will be reached by his body growth and engine build up, more-so than skill development, which will make his skills and ball winning ability and clearance winning ability shine through.

I'm hearing there's more tall talent on offer in next years draft. As this year is full of mids. Even this year there are talented talls in the top 20, Darcy, Gibcus, Andrew, Amiss, Rooyen.
How many picks at a guess you reckon we'll have next year, I say 3-4 max.
We have Miller, Biggy and Ryan. And likely will add 1-2 tall's from this draft. With our 3 second rounders, we could go one of Alleer, Williams, Bazzo
It doesn't really matter how many picks we will have available next year, even if there are a bunch of highly rated talls in the 2022 draft, if we finish Top 4 then we're unlikely to get any of them, or will be picking from the leftovers. Outside of Balta & Miller (Ryan & Colina are rucks), we don't have any other developing KPF/KPD on our list (Biggy isn't on the list at the moment).

I'm not saying we should deliberately focus on talls with our 1st rounders, but if we rate one highest at our 1st round picks then I don't think we should hesitate in selecting a tall just because there are more of them next year.

Likely to have 3 picks in the first 35. Talented Talls can also be found in the late teens to the 20's and 30's hence why we can also focus on next years draft also.
Yes, I know Ryan is a ruck but he can play forward, not sure if you watched his games in the ressies, he played there a lot, took good marks and kicked goals.
Biggy will be rookied, the club has stated that already.

I hear ya regarding the best available but at pick 17 we could well be faced with the best available mid and tall to choose from. I hope they would go mid if say pick 9 was Gibcus.

Anyways, a lot to play out so im happy to leave it there and see how we go in 2 weeks time.

Every Watchtower mag will be burnt outside windy hill.

My claim to fame is I one appeared in Watchtower mag. I was surfing with some mates, got out of the water and was in the car park getting changed out of my wetsuit, and some guy looking like a hobo comes up and asks if he can take photos of us. We were like yeah whatever man. He was creepy as ****, like a stalker.

About a year later a mate comes up to me at Uni and says WTF are you a Jehovas Witness????? I obviously had NFI and he said yeah you, your mate Simon and his girlfriend are in it, in your wetsuits, there was a copy in the library left open on the desk.

I should sue the campaigners.

I hope it's not Erasmus, I dunno why but I get Will Martyn vibes, kinda slow. Also doesn't look like he can even kick 50 metres...

Erasmus reminds me of Ollie Wines. Same bustling running style, tough over the ball and an even better mark. Will be a gun

Same size? I don’t know much about him
but he sounds promising.

I like the look of Erasmus too, here's some info on him plus a highlights vid.

Draft profile: Neil Erasmus
A mercurial high-flyer that can have an impact in the midfield and in attack.

Team: Subiaco
Position: Midfielder/Forward
Height: 188cm
Weight: 80kg

Subiaco's Neil Erasmus is an agile midfield/forward prospect with plenty of upside to his game.

The West Australian hasn't had a deep sample size to offer scouts, however the glimpses he has shown with the Lions in the WAFL U18s competition have been enough to suggest a first-round calling for the 17-year-old.

An inside midfielder that has the ability to move forward and impact the scoreboard, Erasmus frames as one of the more versatile smaller options in his class that could be a key feature for an AFL club as early as next year.

An Eagles fan, Erasmus looks up to West Coast star Elliot Yeo as an idol of his game, which is a fitting role model given the similarities between the pair.

Expert Comments
"The tall midfielder has steadily been rising up draft boards this season and now shapes as a top-10 pick contender. Something of a surprise packet in 2020, Erasmus has taken things up a notch in 2021." - Callum Twomey

Seems like there are a lot of talls in next year's draft have been rated at the end of 1st round / start of second round. Could be like 2017 where CCJ, Allen, Balta, Taylor, DeKoening. McCartin and Petty all went in the 2nd round.

IMO should go best available with first 2 picks
9 Hobbs/Ward/Erasmus
17 Sinn/Goater/JVR

Then focus on needs in the 2nd round if available players are rated roughly the same

add Johnson to pick9 😉

They do come across as creepy.

I don't get this BS talls to have to wait. I mean I can remember one team going 2 talls with their first 2 picks and turned out ok Franklyn and Roughead while another team with the first choice went for Deledio and tammy so which one won. I keep seeing Allear and thinking whoever gets lucky will have a steal. Drafts are improving and you go for the best available to suit your club but like the rest of the game, it's ll about midfielders lol.

I wonder what the caption of the article was.....

Our Collingwood supporters surf the waves or Essendon supporters come down to land? :smilev1:

If the talls next year aren't standouts at the beginning of the 1st round, I can't imagine they are substantially better than the handful available this year either.

I agree with you about best available with our first two picks, I don't care if they are mids or kpp, with 7 & 15 we just take the best player there and then use 26-28 on needs and list balance. If we end up with Gibcus & JVR with our first two, then maybe look at Bowes, Sheldrick & Long later on. If we end up with Erasmus/Hobbs/Johnson/Goater with our first two, then maybe look to include someone like Aleer in the 2nd round.
