Every team is in the same boat ...it's a 50/50 bet ...last year we traded our first for one this year ...now people want to trade forward again ...at some point we are actually going to have to take some players

Yeah, I agree we need to use our picks.

I’d give up 7, 15&27 to get Callaghan at 2. At least give us a decent chance at a genuine gun.

If this theory of there being guns all throughout the draft holds then it shouldn’t matter if we push two picks to the back as according to some on here there will be talent that slides.

Personally I’d like to see us get 1 potential Agrader, and two more developing talents and keep the last two spots for the mid season draft. There will be a lot of players who didn’t get sufficient exposure this year and will come on quickly with some footy next year.

I reckon we will only take 4 picks in the national draft
Holding back 1 pick to be used in the supplementary list
We will either combine 2 of our second round picks to move up into a late first round or very early second round pick
Or trade our last pick in the second round to a club for
There next years first or early second round pick,,,
With our 4 picks,,3 mids one kp
And train 2 -3 kp players over summer who ever is da best
Goes on the list
Or we could select a kid who's rated in the top 30.

He could slot straight into that role for us next year. Has that mix of speed and endurance that we love.

Grimes. Tarrant. Vlastuin.
Short. Broad. DRioli.
Pickett. Stack. SInn.
Lambert. Lynch. Graham.
Martin. Riewoldt. Baker.
Soldo. Edwards. Prestia.
Cotchin. Balta. Nankervis. Bolton.
+Rcd.

It doesn't matter greatly if you ' reach ' for Sinn @ 7 if you get a slider @ 15 ...

Would make some sense to get the player if that's the one you rate.

Also looks like a decent fit I'd calla is our of reach

All in on Sinn ;)

Seriously though
Sifting through game replays this bloke has class coming out of all areas. Elite left foot nice size and oozes leadership. Will be a great fit at pick 9 and will play straight away!

it’s funny I’ve gone back into some deep dives of draft experts and forums on here and reading stuff from 2019 is fantastic seeing who stood out and who was predicted to shine. Sinn and Rachele were the 2 along with Sonsie. Who’d of thought after winning flags back then and reading about those kids that we might have the chance to get 2 of them next Thursday night.

I can’t bloody wait
It’s really cool to think the last few years our pick 15 on night 1 of the draft (normally later) was all about us looking at a slider but having that pick 7(9) gives us so much more room to dream of who we recruit. Makes great reading and speculation

I'm hearing its Josh Sinn at our 1st pick regardless of Hobbs or Wards availability.
I'd be surprised if our strategy is getting leaked out a week ahead of the draft
Our club is pretty good at keeping our cards held pretty close these days

Wonder what the chances of sonsie falling to 26

Very true
Do hope with the Sinn rumour that we are keeping 7 for Erasmus/Ward/Hobbs and looking at moving that 15 up a few spots to get Sinn if it’s a real rumour

Drafting Sinn is not really what the team needs and in no way should be reaching for him at 7.

Mansell, Short, Rioli, Stack are all fighting for the same spot. There is space on the wing potentially, but is a wingman exactly what the team needs?

At 15 is a different story, Sinn would be a good pick

I think what is real is there are a number of talents between a certain range. Players will go past our first pick and probably get selected (in theory) before our pick 15 in terms of rating whether the club with the picks wants them in terms of suitability or not. Who they are I am not sure, I know as much as anyone else, two tenths of bugger all. The thing is some of these players may not suit the club with the selection between 7 and 15 in question so for us it might be a opportunity to trade up to get the player we want after our first pick and give a later pick plus 15 or whatever combination to help the club at that position looking to chase more suitable players at different spots and different times factoring futures as trade possibilities to get the players that help our mix

If we rate Sinn and don't think he'll be picked up until the low- mid 10's pick, then we probably should still use pick (7)9 on a player like Hobbs, Gibcus, Ward. Then trade our pick 15(17) and one of 20's picks for Essendons pick 11(13) and next years 3rd round to make sure we get Sinn.

Or alternatively trade our pick 7(9) for the Saints pick 9(11) and future 3rd round. That way we would almost certainly get Sinn and improve our draft hand for next year.

It depends whether we view him as just a line breaking half back, or we see him as a wing who could move into the middle in future.

We're pretty desperate for a wing or two. Basically need a couple of Kmacs with better skills. Pickett's form in the last two years has been pretty average too, and he's 30 next year.

Sinn reminds me me of Isaac smith

I agree. Our only chance outside of being shit again to get A grade talent to replace Cotch/Sheds/Prestia etc is do whats needed this year while we have the capital.
Put it this way.In a normal draft we'd have 7/25/43.
This trade we'd have 2/26/28.

I think it's the most pressing need.

In the short term anyway. Sounds like there's no chance he last till 15
