I’m certainly a lot more interested in Gibcus if we view him as a forward. Much prefer the agile, high leaping guys like Jack than the lumbering high picks of recent years.

Forward or back, he could release Balta if he was a better back. We really haven't seen Balta forward. Good problem to have.

You're probably not looking at a Dusty-level mid at that pick (unless you're very lucky).

I'd say if we're choosing between Hobbs and Gibcus its a bit like choosing between Prestia and Grimes. That sort of level.

The way im seeing this is at pick #9 we are getting a mid that is not a top 5 level mid that has not been considered top tier
But Gibcus has been seen as the best defender in the group pretty much all year and Ht 196cm, Wt 87kg it wont take long for him to be ready
great athlete and has speed , agility and leap.

Our recruiters have also shown they have an eye for later talent and with another 4 picks im positive they will find some nice mids with our later picks

If we get Johnson, whilst I'll be mildly disappointed given the WA go-home risk, he does look good and his size is a massive boon. Might be a great get who can play in 2022.

T'was the night before the Draft and YeOldSanta is a little maudlin, maybe having a Guiness (the old fella liked the froth from the end of the glass he did)...so I'm throwing caution to the wind and getting agresssive at the draft table:

If I'm Richmond I'm on the phone to the plonkers over at North - we agree to trade tomorrow Pick 7, 15 and 26 as well as our next year's first round pick (we already have North's second rounder which will be like a late 1st anyway as well as our own second so we can trade back into the first round ok) AND offer them Biggy Nguon (whatever/however) for the No1 pick, Jason Horne Francis. Kid was born to wear the yellow and black. We get a third rounder back. It's North after all.

Armed with the No1 pick (17 other clubs now literally crapping their dacks) we bid on Daicos, it's matched then we bid on Darcy, it's matched. Keep the bastards honest tho. We then take JHF and he plays R1 and makes Baily Smith look like a lockdown defender. Wins Rising Star and finishes T5 Jack Dyer medal. The new Dusty/Cotch/Shedda hybrid has arrived.

With our other two picks 27&28 we select Leek Aleer to replace/upgrade Biggy and Angus Sheldrick to give us that in and under little bull to become apprentice to Meatball and give us some nip and zip around the clearances.
