Im a bit concerned about our future key back stocks, so Bazzo has me interested.

At least as far as forwards go we will have Lynch for a while and Coleman Jones looks like a good prospect.

Need someone alongside Balta to build the backline around when Grimes and or Astbury retire. Miller and Garthwaite might not make the cut but id be interested if others disagree.

What do people think?
We also have Biggy who needs another 2 years but extremely athletic and fast with good height

Got a funny feeling Biggy might surprise a few this year , burgo was bullish about him
Hope so but im thinking not this year but maybe 2022 or 2023
for a kid thats nearly 200cm to run 20mtr at 2.85 and have a 93cm leap

He looks like a bigger faster Dylan Grimes in the future we just need him to add another 7-8kg and learn the grimes plays

I reckon there was a reason that we bid on the KPD from Essendon. From the sound of him he is a lock down defender without the rebounding ability of others...........or a younger Dave Astbury. Think we will definitely be looking at this type with one of our 2nd rounders next year as this type fall due to every man and his dog wanting those intercept/rebounding types.

If he's 1/2 as good as grimes he'll be gold.

I just read Bazzo's late father played for Swan Districts (over 150 games).

Might qualify for father-son for freo?

The way I read it he doesn't qualify for father son(?

Steve played 158 games with Swan Districts between 1988-95

The West Coast Eagles could select any player whose father had made 150 WAFL appearances prior to 1987 for Claremont, East Perth, West Perth or Subiaco. Adelaide could select any player whose father made 200 SANFL appearances prior to 1990 for South Adelaide, Norwood, Glenelg or Sturt.

I asked the same question on the draft board and was told by a Freo fan that because his dad played his 150 games after 1995 he didn't qualify.
Played his 150th in 1995. So I guess it comes down to what the actual rule is. If it's before the end of 1995 then he maybe F/S eligible.

However that rule applied for the first 20 years a club was in the league

You'd think the Freo fans would be right onto it if he was linked to them but I guess we'll wait and see.

It would be before 1995. 1995 they were an AFL side.

Just had a look at the AFL Rules and it's prior to 1995, so he is free for anyone to grab, they miss out by 9 games.

Lets hope these talls dont become to 10 picks in 2021 and hold off their development just a little to fall to our picks
Rhett Bazzo & Jacon Van Rooyen sould like 'Richmond Men' Just from the names ;)

There seems to be numerous gun mids

Van rooyen dropping to a richmond pick sounds a good idea

Chesser turned heads on the footy field last year being named in the All Australian under-16’s side as well as co-captaining the Victorian Country team.

“It was a pretty big honour and a shock to be honest,” he said.

The former Wodonga turned Lavington footballer started playing the game at a young age through family influence and now represents his school in Melbourne, as well as playing for the Sandringham Dragons in the NAB league.

The speedy teenager one day dreams of going all the way.

“It’s been a bit of a build up but it’s always been a dream of mine to play AFL,” he said.

“It’s heading in the right direction but there’s still a lot of work to do, so I’ll see how things pan out.”

Chesser’s hard work and determination across both disciplines has earned him a spot among this year’s Norske Skog Young Achiever of the Year Award nominees.

The year-11 student said it’s an honour to be recognised.

“My grandfather worked at the paper mill, so I knew a little bit about the background, but I didn’t know too much about the award itself,” he said.

“I looked at the other people who were nominated and thought it was a pretty big honour to be amongst those names.”

Chesser has another big year planned, starting with competing in school athletics finals in Melbourne.

“It’s a crazy atmosphere, we get big crowds down at lakeside,” Chesser said.

The youngster is currently in the under-18 Victorian football hub as a bottom age player and is eyeing off a final place in the squad, as well as dreaming of a spot in the under-17’s All Stars future game to be played in Melbourne later in the year.

“That’s another goal,” he said.

“I’m hoping to just play consistent footy and enjoy the year as a bottom ager.”
