Gold Coast not learning from history when we had pick 3 and were offered 6 & 14 for it. Held firm and had Martin fall into our laps. They'd be wise to hold it and take the kids that falls into their lapsI have seen this trade mentioned, but if you are GC, it actually makes no sense IMO
watching some of the SA v WA game, Matt Johnson looks a likely type - anyone got an educated opinion of him?
Did he mention that in the podcast?Matty Clarke is a fan if that’s tells you anything

Matty Clarke gave him a good wrap really rates his class and he did say we’ve got a very good recruiter on the ground over in WA (Sammy Cousins).watching some of the SA v WA game, Matt Johnson looks a likely type - anyone got an educated opinion of him?

With the talk in recent yrs of increasing the Draft age now would be the best time to consider doing thatYeah agree
You’d reckon down the track there’s going to be more of these kids picked up as 20-22 year olds than we’ve seen previously.
I'm keen to trade any unused picks into next yrs draft. gives us 2 decent drafts while still thereabouts (all going well)We'll need to open up a couple of spots on the list to take advantage of the 6 picks we have inside 45.
There's going to be some sliders and others that clubs will reach for.
I'd love to get thier future 1st, they'll have to gut their list just to get Daicos so should be a top end pick. Their fans haven't figured this out yet.Why swap out a round 1 pick this year when the talent pool is pretty decent, just so you can claim an unknown pick next year? Sorry but it just doesn’t make any sense to me at all. Pies may well bounce with Fly as their coach?
Geez.Victorian draft hopefuls miss on-field chance to impress AFL recruiters
Draft prospects from Melbourne will not get the chance to impress recruiters in matches before this year’s national draft after the NAB League finals and national under-19 championship games between Vic Metro and Vic Country were cancelled for 2021.
Western Australia, South Australia and the Allies will play matches when permitted in other states including the possibility of a game in AFL grand final week in Perth.
Although the decision was expected, the news is still a blow to those in their draft year who have now missed virtually two seasons of underage football before being eligible to join AFL clubs.
But the AFL has kept the door open for matches being played between footballers from regional areas if restrictions are eased at the end of next week.
Recruiters were upset at the decision made last year to delay the return of male players to their NAB League clubs and then pause the season after three rounds, with one recruiter telling The Age the decision was “coming back to bite”.
Players will still participate in the draft combine at the end of September with several Victorian players including Nick Daicos, Sam Darcy, Josh Gibcus and Ben Hobbs considered top 10 prospects, however players from the SANFL and WAFL have more exposed form for recruiters to consider, particularly when using later picks.
Very few of this year’s NAB Rising Star nominees were Victorian players chosen in the 2020 national draft, an indication of the ground they had to make up after joining AFL clubs.
Tristan Salter, the AFL’s head of talent pathways, said they recognised the impact the interrupted seasons have had on players and their families.
“We remain committed to supporting all players in the lead-up to the 2021 NAB AFL draft and in their football journeys in 2022,” Salter said.
Geez.
That's a worry.
Honesty think I'd prefer if we offer up pick 7 for a future 1st
Rather not have limited data on Vic kids.
Crows & Freo might bite.
Sounds as though they could go into draft deficit to land himI'd love to get thier future 1st, they'll have to gut their list just to get Daicos so should be a top end pick. Their fans haven't figured this out yet.
Even top 3 who's that going to land you?Or hopefully, get into the top 3. The combine will be good to have a better gauge on the Vic kids. Still a lot of talent out there just not as clear cut on the Vic talent.
Even top 3 who's that going to land you?
Not sure if there is a interstate kid who shouts out top 3.
Sure the combine helps but it doesn't exactly give you the backup of a game against your fellow peers.
Yeah, but we'd have to stump up 7 + 14/16 to get it.A top 3 pick would land us one of Gibcus, Hobbs or Callaghan. Obviously dependant on who GWS pick at pick 2.
Yeah, but we'd have to stump up 7 + 14/16 to get it.
CCJ for pick 2.Looks like the Giants will need a key fwd with Pick 2 (after the 1st Qtr tonight)....... Andrew Mac or Jye Amiss
Their fans reckon they are getting him & trading players in as well.....Sounds as though they could go into draft deficit to land him
Allegedly he wasn’t even completely sold on going there as a F/S.
What a shambles
Did you listen to what Matt Clarke said in his AFL podcast? Seemed pretty comfortable with the Vic kids and their abilities. Go hard at this draft while we’ve got a good hand I sayEven top 3 who's that going to land you?

That's not what I said, this is the draft page, not the player trade pageCCJ for pick 2.

Yep agreed. He's very classy, tall, strong, genuine mid with very good kicking. Never looks rushed. He'd be a great pick up with our late first rounder if he lasts that long.watching some of the SA v WA game, Matt Johnson looks a likely type - anyone got an educated opinion of him?
