Not if they are using those picks to match a bid on an academy kid. Clubs who want to trade up just to grab a particular player will trade a future draft pick or 2 to get the pick in this years draft. But the club receiving the three lower picks for their higher pick now has more picks than they can use. They'd have to have a couple of really low worthless picks to entertain that deal.
I'm Dusty. And so is my wife.
No they can enter the draft with more spots than they have picks. But the club receiving the three lower picks for their higher pick now has more picks than they can use. They'd have to have a couple of really low worthless picks to entertain that deal.
I was in Form 6 at HS...liked it so much I repeated!Ok
I was in Brownlow form when I was 15.
(Then I woke up).

even aim for nths future 2nd for cj.Personally i'd rather trade any unused picks into next yrs draft.
I would offer them our second and our third round this year and CCJ for Tarrant and their first next yeareven aim for nths future 2nd for cj.
Last year the AFL allowed clubs to stockpile picks because teams had prepared for bid matching the year previously by trading in future picks and with the list sizes being cut the clubs were going to be left with picks they couldn't use. So they allowed the extra picks in the 2020 draft. As I linked in that article yesterday the rules revert back to previous years where clubs can only have picks that match list spots. The 'exception' is when a club trades out 1 or 2 picks to acquire later picks for bid matching. No they can enter the draft with more spots than they have picks.
Ward looks like he might be off to Hawks at pick 5 if they want him.

Knights rider: The aerobic beast rocketing into top-five calculations
Josh Ward's performances in the NAB League have made recruiters sit up and take noticewww.afl.com.au
Ward looks like our type of mid. Runs hard both ways and will do it all day long. Would not surprise me at all to see us trade up to get him.Ward looks like he might be off to Hawks at pick 5 if they want him.

What would we be giving up to move up the order? The little murmurings of us moving up have started. I see Adelaide's Pick 4 coming into our interest. Whether it happens of not I don't know for certain but I do know people at other clubs have mentioned it. I do see the Jordan Dawson trade maybe a point of interest here. Let's see what occurs, but I know Ward is someone we rate extremely highly. So do I. Would celebrate getting him.
