You can trade after the bid comes also
I don't believe a club can deal once the bid is placed. Eg Collingwood cant say to GWS/AFL please hold on we will match once we've struck a deal with Richmond to get the necessary pointS. Once the bid is placed you have 2 minutes to match. I may be wrong.

I think they can

Im pretty sure i have seen a bid placed and the team meant to match the bid traded out their pick for later picks and matched with that

I think that has to be done prior to the bid but not once the bid is placed. Maybe someone knows exactly.

You'd hope a couple of the kids are ready to go for next season.

While you draft for the future port / swans etc. Have shown kids can have a crack straight away.

Tigers window still open
Just keep bringing 4 or 5 kids in every year and it will never close.

Make sure we never give picks away looking for top ups.

I understand where you're coming from in bundling later picks to get another 1st rounder but geez you're generous.

38, 39, 40, & 44 equate to pick 7 points wise, I know we'll have to give a little value to the Dogs, but their pick could be 20 after the GF.
We are much better off trading those picks for future picks as opposed to wiping out 3/4 picks to gain 1 back. We'd be giving up a solid Draft hand & None of these guys are guaranteed A Graders as it stands right now. Worst thing would be to do that & end up picking a bust. Our current picks allow us to almost do a rebuild while (all going well next yr) still being a contender, which will see us avoid the 2-3-4 down yrs Norf/Horf/Pies are currently having or looking like they'll have.

Why would the future pick in 2021 not be a bust while Dusty and others are another year older ?

Lets say next years draft is better for whatever reason. We could trade into it using 2023 futures next year. The other thing they will not be ready made anyway especially if KPP and if we go up the ladder will we be able to reach them anyway? How does that help our window anyway?

To get the dogs first pick any deals would have to be done prior to the draft. The same applies dealing with Collingwood as both Darcy and Daicos will be bid on very early, before we could do a deal on the night.
We can do the trade on the night once the bid comes in. That way you know exactly what needs to be traded to match points.

Even though clubs only have 2 minutes on the clock, they would head into the draft with trades lined up for when a bid comes, depending on the points they need.

2 minutes is very quick time to negotiate a deal for these 2 elite players so both clubs will be prepared with both plan A and B because 2 minutes they risk missing out on the player

If teams are working out a trade for picks, they get extended time to finalise any trades.

Anyway as I said teams will go into the draft with deals lined up ready to pull the trigger depending on when bids come.

RICHMOND and Adelaide are among the clubs interested in Gold Coast's pick No.3 with the Suns open to splitting the selection for multiple top picks.

The Suns inquired about trading up to pick No.1 with North Melbourne listening to offers, but the Roos are strongly tipped to hold the selection with South Adelaide teenager Jason Horne-Francis in their sights.

As reported in Inside Trading earlier this month, the Suns are open to trading their top-three pick for two early selections, which has seen the Tigers show interest. Richmond is well placed to make a move up the board with picks 7, 15, 26 and 28 inside the top 30.

The Tigers could package multiple selections to jump up the order, with future picks also an option at their disposal.

The Crows hold pick No.4 at the draft but that will be bumped back to No.6 after bids on father-son pair Nick Daicos and Sam Darcy and they have also shown interest in potentially edging up the board. Adelaide also holds pick 23 but will also be looking to negotiate a trade with Sydney for Jordan Dawson.

Finn Callaghan, Ben Hobbs and Josh Ward are all midfield options pressing to be top-six draft picks, while Josh Gibcus and Mac Andrew are the tall options in the mix outside of Darcy.

Any pick swap deal at the top end could come much closer to November's NAB AFL Draft, however, with clubs able to swap selections up until a week before the event – and then again during the draft. - Callum Twomey

Maybe we are super keen on Finn Callaghan assuming Gibcus goes to GWS pick 2.

Like Carlton did to trump us for Stocker?

Trade already worked out because we were about to swoop. 🤣

We must be super keen on someone. That is, we reckon there is someone not in the recognised top 4 that we reckon is elite.

Please let us get this right. Rebuild the midfield whilst they have Cotch and Dusty to learn from.

Gold Coast have no list spots and they hold picks #3 , #19 , #22 why would they want more picks
doesn't make sense.

I wouldnt mind asking about their pick #19 if for any reason they wanted later picks but i doubt it

There was talk a while ago that our 2022 first was on the table so the deal might include our 2022 first plus a 2021 first for 3 and 22? That would help consolidate GC’s picks for this year where they’re struggling for spots on the list while gaining another first for next year!

The last time we were looking to move up the order Bailey Smith was our target. Let's hope if we get it done this time the kid is just as good.
