Was it clear? I mean, I heard we had enquired about both, but my take was it was more likely two lines of communication where we were hopeful of making a deal for one of those picks, not necessarily both.It was made very clear earlier in the week that Richmond were chasing both Adelaide's and Gold Coast's first rounders, trying to get two picks inside the first five. Why wouldn't we ? We have the best draft hand we've had in 10+ years. The only thing tempering that is that there's still very good value to be had with players so even 5-15. We're now trying to get GWS' first having been rebuked by Adelaide once.
That’s not right mate, picks 28 & 38 are worth more (1142 points) than the Doggies pick 17. (1025 points)As it stands, we'll need to include Pick 28 + three other later picks to get the Dogs Pick 18.
I think they are suggesting that this years draft is very strong so we'll like to keep all our picks to set ourselves up
Not if the Dogs get something in return for one of their outgoing playersAs it stands, we'll need to include Pick 28 + three other later picks to get the Dogs Pick 18.

There's a fair bit more to play out in this, the negotiations with the Roos will have a factor in what we can offer for the Dogs 1st.Not if the Dogs get something in return for one of their outgoing players
38,40, 42 & 47 for Dogs 2021 1st & 2022 2nd is still well in favour of the Dogs based on points (extra 3rd round pick in value)
That would give them 1600 points, only 100 points short of a Pick 3 bid
I'd rather use 28 to trade to the Pies for their 2022 2nd rounder
Your calculations are correct, however, Richmond is not offering them all the points they require to draft Darcy. We are only offering to trade for their pick seventeen 1025 points. if we are to give them the full amount that they require they’d néed to sweeten the deal, probably with their 2022 second round pick coming back to Richmond. No club will furnish the Bulldogs with enough points to draft Darcy for just a pick 17.I stand corrected then. I must have read the values wrong.
I took it that the Darcy would go at Pick 3 (2234 or 1787.2 with the 20% discount) which would mean we would need to use pick 28 (677 points) + 38 (465) = 1142 points which is still shy 645.2. We would then need to offer them 42 (395) and 47 (316) to make up the deficit. Obviously I'm either using the wrong chart or miscalculating completely.
If that's the case, I much prefer your calculations to mine!![]()
NOOOOOOOOOOOHow many picks are we likely to take?
Say we pull Dogs trade off we have 5 top 30 picks. Do we trade one of 15/17 into next year. Take 2 firsts this year and 2 next?
How many list spots do we have though?NOOOOOOOOOOO
Take all 5 picks

Agree. Start the youth rebuild NOWNOOOOOOOOOOO
Take all 5 picks
No WayAs it stands, we'll need to include Pick 28 + three other later picks to get the Dogs Pick 18.
I think they are suggesting that this years draft is very strong so we'll like to keep all our picks to set ourselves up
You would only take the pick at 17 if the player you wanted was available, else you’d live trade it. I agree with starting the rebuild ASAP But not unless it is a player you consider to be value at that pick.Agree. Start the youth rebuild NOW
while I agree that we won't be giving them full value for the darcy bid, we will need to give them more points than 17 is worth, otherwise there's no value in it for themYour calculations are correct, however, Richmond is not offering them all the points they require to draft Darcy. That seems overs, Pies 2nd round next year is likely to be around that 25 mark anywayWe could then use 26 , 40 to get the Pies 2022 2nd round pick
Any points they get over the value of pics 17 is a bonus. If they use pick 17 their first pic next year will drop back at least six or seven positions. The dogs have to trade with someone and whilst we may have to give them some points over the value of pick 17, we do not have to go ridiculous and give them anywhere near full value unless they give us something further back.while I agree that we won't be giving them full value for the darcy bid, we will need to give them more points than 17 is worth, otherwise there's no value in it for them
Three first round picks would be fantastic, however, I'd like to have at least one earlier pick inside the first four. If we were able to secure the pies second round pick in 2022 then I'd be happy to trade pick seven and our first round pick in 2022 to GWS for pick 2. Get the rebuild going ASAP. Top end talent.Potentially having three first rounders this year is massive. 7,15,17 would be a huge haul given we haven’t traded a gun to make it happen. Sets up the post Cotchin/Riewoldt era so nicely
No Way
the dogs pick will be #18 and worth 985 points to them
28 , 42 , 47 is worth 1388 points and i would not give up any more just for a 10 spot upgrade that late
We could then use 26 , 40 to get the Pies 2022 2nd round pick
We would then have
7 , 15 , 17 , 38
Steele was also traded, He is a great Captain for the Aints i have to admitLooking through this years Brownlow though, only Steel (who finished joint 5th) was drafted outside the top 7 in their draft year.
2021 Brownlow Results
1. Pick 7 - Wines
2. Pick 4 - Bont
3. Pick 4 - Oliver
4. Pick 1 - Walsh
5.Pick 5 - Parish
5. Pick 24 - Steel
If we can get the Dogs pick 17 and bundle it up to get a pick in the first half dozen, then history shows that we are far more likely to get a star than even with pick 7 or 15.
Kinda like Port with Rozee, Butters and Katniss...but hopefully betterPotentially having three first rounders this year is massive. 7,15,17 would be a huge haul given we haven’t traded a gun to make it happen. Sets up the post Cotchin/Riewoldt era so nicely
That doesn't help the Dogs that much though as they need a lot more picks to match the Darcy bid, not just a similar amount to do us a favourYou would be looking at trading picks 38, 42, 47 (points 1176) to the dogs for pick 17 (1025 points)
How many list spots do we have though?
Astbury, Naish, Houli, CCJ and Chol gone. Tarrant in means 4 picks![]()

I'd prefer taking more picks than trading 3 picks for 1 back for example. We'll have the later picks we won't use & we can shift them for future picks. Clubs will come knocking for those later picks knowing we won't use them all. Give ourselves 2 decent drafts. That right there is a rebuild while still contending. Salt mine inducing stuffAs it stands, we'll need to include Pick 28 + three other later picks to get the Dogs Pick 18.

Big risk to our KPD depth if cards don’t fall our way on draft night. You’d want either Gibcus or Bazzo.Garthwaite should be gone too. I’d suggest we take 5 picks in this draft.
