We now have pick 8, getting closer to a top 5 pic, that should be our aim. Chasing a finals spot this year provides the club no value.

If we lose the last 3 and the favourites get up in the remaining 3 rounds, ive got us finishing 13th, Saints 12th, Suns 17th and Geelong top 4. Geelong out of finals in straight sets might happen.

Bar Collingwood going on a huge run i dont think its going to get much better. At best our draft hand looks like:-

6, 14 (Geelong straight sets), 25 26, 39, 43.

If we can trade CCJ for GC Picks 19 and 21 it becomes:-

6, 14, 19, 21, 25, 26 + 39, 43.

As good as it gets.

There's nothing to gain by trying to make finals and getting rolled by 10 goals if we did.

Send the older guys in for a rest, get any surgeries done, play some kids and we can strategically turn picks 8 and 25 into pick 6 and 23. Let the other teams play for 9th and grab an elite junior midfielder at 6.

From discussions last year and Knightmare’s phantom draft power rankings on ESPN, it doesn’t really look like it’s a strong draft for key position players. The top is full of midfielders or KPPs that are NGAs (I get the new rules this year about this) and F/S picks. Schlensog’s the only one outside of that at pick 16, which makes me wonder why no one went for him in the midseason draft.

Should we focus a lot on midfielders this year and then pick up KPPs next year with our early picks? I wonder

select a Nice inside outside mid with our 1st selection and a couple of KPP with the next 2 picks

Allen , Balta , Coleman Jones , Taylor , De Knoning , McCartin were all selected between picks #20 - #33
