No way in hell Bulldogs even get close to doubling their points value. My daughter used to be mates at primary school with a girl who's dad's a Carlton recruiter he must've seen Draft day 100 times would always fill me in on stories and gossip. Every single recruiter thinks they're Sonny Weaver they're all fully aware of what the Bulldogs need (points/Darcies son) and what they don't need (to retain pick #19). The only team dumb enough to bite would be Gold Coast who in 2019 traded their next year's first round (ended up being pick 5) for Geelong's pick 27. How that suspect trade didn't come under more scrutiny from media I'll never know but typical AFL just like giving Gold Coast pick 3 as compensation for a washed up Ablett jr.I'm liking how screwed Collingwood are.
Checking out Lore's current picks and points table up the top, they currently have 1609 points.
If Nick Daicos is bid at pick 1, they need 2400 points (that's including 20% discount)
800 point deficit - meaning next year's draft their first round pick get's downgraded.
Not sure if gets rounded up or down after downgrading? But would mean:
if they have pick #1 --> #3
#2 -->#6
#3 --> #9
#4 --> #12 and so on.
Assuming you're happy to take the risk they won't match and happy to draft Daicos, why wouldn't another team bid at #1? Gives a good chance of sliding up a pick next year as well.
And Collingwood have sh*t picks to try and trade for points.
Their 42 & 48 combine to be worth 697 points.
To improve that value they would need to trade these for at least pick 27. And noone will trade a pick higher than 27 for those.
To increase points, you need to start with high picks and trade for multiple lowers. Just doesn't work the other way.
And their first pick is #37, which just isn't high or exciting enough to get much lower pick combos offered. Maybe Brisbane or Gold Coast would offer 3 picks in the 50s or later for it.
Bulldogs in a much better position with pick #18. They could slightly downgrade it several times, each time getting extra points. If they pay it smart they could probably double its value in points.
100% this.Van Rooyen and Amiss both kicked 6 on the weekend and FWIW are both in Twomeys draft team of the year.
I think we should be using one of our firsts to take whichever is available depending on their range. KPFs take a while so getting one now sets us up nicely for when Riewoldt retires if he goes another year or two.

Guess it depends if CCJ hangs around. That being said, hasn’t Van Rooyen being playing a bit of defence also? Could be a great swing manVan Rooyen and Amiss both kicked 6 on the weekend and FWIW are both in Twomeys draft team of the year.

I'm certainly a lot more confident in us making the right decisions than I once was. That 2004 draft still gives me nightmares.100% this.
We need one of the WA KPF (Amiss, Van Rooyen, Williams), a KPD in case Biggy and/or Miller don't come on, and the best mids we can get. With four picks inside 30 I can't see us ******* this draft up.
Mathew Roberts is the kid I'm keen on, hope he falls to our first pick.
They are around the 194-195ish mark I believe, so not your big lumbering forwards like Lynch and CCJ, a little more mobile (but they aren't Buddy Franklin or Nic Cox mobile). By all reports, Amiss does not miss set shots, bloke has kicked 47.11 in 11 games at Colts level for east PerthWhat type of KPFs are they? Are they similar to Jack with lateral movement and skill? Or are they crash and bash types like we already have with Lynch and CCJ?
The only thing I'd add as well, is if there's a good small forward that can kick goals. MRJ + another small forward would be great.100% this.

Cumbo will be that player. Not a midget but the bloke has the Nate Browns about him I reckon.The only thing I'd add as well, is if there's a good small forward that can kick goals. MRJ + another small forward would be great.
Something like
Best Mid
Best KPF (Amiss or Van Rooyen)
Best Mid
Best Small forward
I'd be pretty happy with that as our first 4 picks
I need to watch a bit more of him but from what I've seen he seems one of those small forwards who is good overhead, but not so much a crumbing player and he might lack a bit of toe. Similar to like a Jamie Elliot (although probably not that good overhead).Cumbo will be that player. Not a midget but the bloke has the Nate Browns about him I reckon.
Will this season have the under 18 champs? That's always been the one where names are made and the draft order can really see sliders and bolters.I was reading somewhere that the WA key forwards are kicking huge bags in WAFL colts because there aren't any decent key defenders playing at that level, anyone have more knowledge on this?

What he does seem to have though is that knack of finding the goals

He is younger and probably still has a bit more growth being a December 2003 babyWilliams sounds the more rounded tall , he plays multiple roles. Also have read he’s one of the youngest players in the draft. Listed at 195 now he could still have some more growth.
The type that could end up st either end of the ground.
