Why, there's no guarantee the mids going to be good or have a straight impact if he's a 8/9 pick?

No but the odds are higher and when you're picking 17/18 year olds it's a bit of a lottery

Depends what the rule change was intended to do.

A) Stop the Richmond game plan.

B) Speed up the game.

We looked very slow this year. We need more speed.

We need players to lead towards the guy with the footy. Have are look at our poor games this year and how often we turn the ball over forward of centre, have time to pick a pass, and every player forward of play is running away from the guy with the ball., and more often than not trailing their defender back towards goal. Drives me insane.

Josh Rachele - X factor dynamo fwd/mid. Could be anything. Might just be too hard to pass up if he's there at our pick.

Mathew Roberts - left footed inside mid Matty Knights type. Clearance jet.

Amiss/Williams - best of the KPFs from WA. Big mobile sharpshooters to replace JR but not the big lumbering 200cm types we already have.

VanRooyen/Schlensog - best young KPD's (apart from Gibcus who I think will be a reach for us to use our first pick).

Use a late pick on a Narkle type to help with our deficiency around the ball (although I do think a fully fit and rested Cotch, Prestia, Edwards and RCD will mean we aren't as bad as we were this year).

Just my thoughts at this stage.

I would think we would be aiming for 4 picks inside 30 with 3 inside 20 by trading for the doggies selection
If Cj does leave then 4 inside 20 and another between 20-30

Really excited about the picks we hold and the players that look to be at our range , The 2 player combination i would love is Erasmus/JVR
and really liking the thought Goater and Long may also be available as well as Bazzo

So, I don't watch the draftees at all but like to follow those who do to get a feel for likely draft range.

My question is: are there any matches coming up for them that are likely to see the general consensus change much?

I have no idea what matches are being played but assume state vs state matches probably haven't and won't happen?
