Van Rooyen just screams Oscar Allen to me
GOAT ' er & Long also have me interested

Erasmus , Van Rooyen , Goater , Long - Im buying drinks
I'd be happy if we prioritise our preferred key forward with either Pick 7 (or the Geelong pick), even if some think that it's a bit of a reach. Van Rooyen does seem like he'd be a perfect Jack replacement.
Given there's so much depth of midfielders in this draft, we should still be able to get ones we rate with the rest of our first 4 picks.
With Balta & Miller, I don't think we have a huge urgency to prioritise a key defender, other than maybe Schlensog if he gets through to 26/28

He does look a bit like Oscar Allen yes lol.

The best of the WA KPPs imo is Jye Amiss, although he and Williams haven't really been tested against senior players. The WA v SA U19 match is at Lathlain next Sunday. Hoping to get there too take a close up look at them plus Erasmus and Roberts.

I take him as another informed source of useful information on drafting. There is an unusual amount of disagreement on particular players this year. But unless the club genuinely think a tall is elite then I'd go mids in general and this year. Picks around 20+ get the sliding quality tall.

I find the most use is to read what 3 or 4 of the good draft guys say about someone and just paint a picture from that. KM is simply one of those guys.

He's alright at identifying players strengths and weaknesses but his ability to judge them as overall players/talents is the worst of any of the draft watchers. He had Will Day ranked 40 in 2019, Tarryn Thomas at 26. Thats only a couple of examples but I could real off plenty more, I acknowledge we all have hits and misses but he misses way too much which is why he is where he is. Harsh I know.

As for this year I said it on previous page but I would be looking to trade 7 for two later first rounders. From a list management perspective I think we are red hot chance at luring Tom Green to the club in the next two seasons, that in turn would give us the foundation of our midfield going forward with a support cast of Martin, Bolton, Graham, Prestia, Dow, RCD and Stack.
For the draft itself I'm seeing very little difference between pick 5 and pick 25, although normally the National Championships would seperate the elite, very good to the very good but in saying that Im not sure that would even be the case if the Champs did get off the ground. Trading down would give us a good pick to trade for a player like Ben Ainsworth who could be a lot better in a functional system, if not it could end up with a Tim English, Brodie Grundy type who clubs aren't willing to develop or Mitch Georgiades, Brodie Kemp who falls due to injury. Could trade one pick and keep the other.
I actually really like the position we have drafted from the past 4 times for this reason, clubs get obsessed with certain players and there is always a player who slides that can make them look real stupid, I think our own RCD will be the next to a lot of clubs look stupid.

Lastly on Gibcus. I really like him, will probably will grow another couple of cm's and he is a great athlete who reads game beautifully, however I would rather use either pick 26 or 28 on Leek Alleer who is a very similar type of prospect and is only a year older.

You lost me at RCD.
I really don't get the hype, too many have Richmond goggles for this kid. If he was at another club and came up for trade we would be saying pass or 4th rd at best.

Our midfield brigade coming through doesn't excite me one bit. I would look to offer Geelongs Pick and our 2022 1st pick to Adelaide or Gold Coast and load up on mids at pick 3 and pick 7.

If he was at another club I would be willing to use pick 7 on him. He has everything you need to excel as midfielder at AFL level, just a matter of bringing it all together which after a full preseason he will be close to doing so. Will explode next season, bookmark it.

Nah mate I’d be all over rcd. He dominates then fades, get a tank and look out

I agree with your assessment of RCD and our younger brigade being ordinary. if we acquired pick 3 a top mid would be good, however, I’d still want Gibcus. Top backlines are the foundations of premiership teams.

and add Lipinski, hes a regular at every club ,but because of Treloar no go,kicks goals and we;d just have to train him to run defensively a bit more often
id trade out mcintosh for him, draft in those 2 mids with our highs & with Soldo,Nank,Samson,Miller & 1 of or both Chol,CCJ we wouldnt need to use early pick on a tall ,if we're too loaded with mids move Ross on,give RCD 1 more season,Dow is the one for me who looks to have the natural game compared to RCD & Ross

Thank God your not our recruiting manager. RCD is nothing but a fringe player.

There are only 3 elite players with 2 tied to other clubs. Pick 3 is not given worth giving 2 first rounders in this draft pool.

I'm glad your not a recruiter. Wasn't even pick 7 in his draft year and I serisously hope with our pick 7 this year we get a star and not another average midfielder.

People do know rcd is 21 correct?
Your point? Many more 18 to 20 year olds in the comp are showing more than RCD.

As to not make this a bashing RCD thread by me my point stands that IMO we need another really low pick to kick start this reset. Our midfield is getting old and they are always injured. We need some class with skill, speed and endurance.

Wallis is a FA no trading for him.

wallis has Paul Hudson written all over him.

He’s playing that forward role for the doggies that Caddy could play for us. Pass IMO

I agree on RCD. Too inconsistent. I don‘t see him getting near the elite level.

Based on AFL Draft Central write up, there will be quite a few options at pick 7.

Pick 7 – Richmond

After achieving the ultimate success three times over across the last four years, Tigers fans will again be amongst those invested in what the top 10 has to offer come draft time. This promises to be their earliest pick since taking Nick Vlaustin at number nine in 2012 and while there has been a steady influx since, Richmond can now look towards pure list needs at the end of its dynasty.

Retirees Bachar Houli and David Astbury leave running and key position slots to fill in defence, with the likes of Josh Sinn and Gibcus perfect fits for either mould. We know the Tigers love a Northern Knights graduate, so Ward would be a good shout with Trent Cotchin winding down, though Hobbs would be hard to pass up if available. Neil Erasmus and Roberts are other reliable ball winning midfielders in contention, along with Sonsie who has a point of difference.

That analysis by Draft Central is super lazy. I would argue with Rioli, Stack (assuming they both re-sign), Baker, Short and Ralphsmith able to play across the half backline that Sinn would be an absolute luxury.

I'm a bit concerned by a few of the views expressed previously in respect of the midfield quality. I'm of the view that Ross, Martyn and RCD have not shown that they are capable of being B+ quality footballers. Players don't just 'develop tanks' magically overnight or significantly improve their output. RCD has had three years in the system now for example and even at VFL level has only shown quality in fits and spurts let alone any increased ability to run out games since he was drafted. I'm willing to give Martyn the benefit of the doubt with time but Ross and RCD are incredibly unlikely to be part of our next premiership.

We have spent the last ten rounds being absolutely smashed in the middle in a game that is increasingly about clearance and less about turn over. We should be taking 3+ midfielders who have good disposal outside the contest and can find it inside, because right now it is a significant list deficiency.

Given the noise about extension of CCJ, a tall forward is of less concern with Riewoldt having finished 3rd in the Coleman this year and I think Miller/Nyon and Garthwaite should have an opportunity to settle into the defensive structure with Balta back before a call is made on a tall next year. It is also the sort of position where players can be found who are undervalued that can do a job (For example like Jordan Roughead at Collingwood having been picked up for cheap).

If CCJ stays we really only have major issues with mids. Given this is a deep draft for mids then I'd say just go as hard as possible for high end mids, until about pick 20, then look for JVR or similar.

If we can trade in Green then our midfield going forward looks much better.

Anyhow, we have a great draft hand, let's use it to build for 5 - 10 years not now.

Not a huge fan of using low draft picks on key position players, NAB cup rules makes it easier for them to dominate along with them playing against people smaller than them

Pick 7 on the best available mid and our later first round or 2nd round on a tall

We got CCJ and Balta with picks in the 20’s

Would be stoked if we get 2 gun mids with our first rounders. Erasmus is the one I like but seems likely he will be gone by pick 7
Goater with Geelong's first would be a good result also.
