Ben Hobbs? My pick for Pick 9 at the moment (if he lasts that long) is probably Josh Ward. Just seems like the complete package for a mid, with his only real weakness being a lack of strength which can easily be fixed.
Seems unlikely that he gets to us at the moment, If he makes it to our pick then yes he is the easy choiceBen Hobbs?

Yeah I think I tend to lean that way as well. I worry about Hobbs' lack of acceleration.Agree and I would take him ahead of Hobbs if both are available.
If this comes off we have just changed the way list management is done regarding a rebuild. While we were up we have done it completely differently to the Hawks during their timeI think we also knew our retirements would start , starting our rebuilding process with one eye on the future. Our recruiting staff are brilliant

They also thought this with Saad & Williams. More than happy for them to throw the kitchen sink at Cerra & for us to go to the Draft. As time goes on the more i prefer taking our picks to the Draft.Depends on how important the draft is i guess, Blues clearly think that with the addition of cerra they will play finals and have no need for the draft
Think the top 20-30 are pretty well locked in or close to thatNot sure if there's been any mention of the quality of this draft but personally I have my concerns - especially Vic based prospects with the lack of game time over the past 2 years. I'd hate for us to be thinking that we're 'all in' on this draft and fail to see the limitations these players may have after 2 compromised seasons.
I'd be happy to roll over/ trade out a few of our picks this year and invest more so next year when we can see the kids play a proper season. Also, reading the reviews of the top 10 - it seems there are only 3 top talents (2 of which are F/S) and then it drops off considerably.
Agree with alot of the points here, I just think we would be crazy to give up the opportunity at a top 10 mid tooMany draft experts seem to think that GWS may take Gibcus at pick 2 (4 after matched bids) or else Gold Coast the pick after.
Wouldn't really surprise me. GWS already have shitload of highly-drafted midfielders they can't fit in their cap.
Mac Andrew is apparently being considered by both that early as well. All good if it happens, helps the quality midfielders slide a bit.
Also many seem to feel that Freo will take Jye Amiss with pick 8. I guess this could change depending on whether Cerra leaves and what other picks they get.
Brisbane and GWS are then the most likely possibles for taking Van Rooyen at picks 12 or 15. Would be nice if Geelong finishes lower than Brisbane and we pick before them.
In my head we will also be getting the Bulldogs first round pick ( no inside info, just feel that we can offer the best value for it) so hoping they drop out of the finals early to improve that pick.
I also wouldn't be surprised if we are happy with Coleman-Jones and then Samson Ryan in a year or two as our KPF with Chol as cheap backup and don't draft any tall forwards this draft.
Honestly Same, I know a lot of people are bullish on him but his value is being over-exaggerated by the lack of good KPD. We would be crazy to not take a top 10 mid imoReally hope we don't go Gibcus. The more I read the more he just seems like the best of a sh*t crop.
I feel thats changing a bit over the past couple of years - you need at least one very high quality KP defender and even 1-2 mid-size def that can take a intercept mark and read the play better than the forwards. Players like Lever, McGovern, Vlas, Ridley, Ryan, Haynes, Andrews, Moore etc are prob the most important players for their teams. While it's handy to have a great defender like Rance, I personally feel it's OK to have mid-draft defenders like Astbury(pick 35), or pre-season draftees like Grimes, or failed spud-forwards like Liam Jones.
I understand GWS with more midfielders than they know what to do with going for Gibcus, but for us I feel the next Cotchin, Prestia or Dusty is more important than the next Rance. I'd rather us settle for the next Astbury with pick 40 (Rhett Bazzo) and spend our first round draft picks on all midfielders.
We need two of them I reckon the second to cover for the first one getting banged up from getting the hard ball gets...I feel thats changing a bit over the past couple of years - you need at least one very high quality KP defender and even 1-2 mid-size def that can take a intercept mark and read the play better than the forwards. Having said that - we need a high quality clearance mid-fielder with our first pick more than anything else.

I remember Conca's. Looked like Dane Swan on meth. Which these days is just regular Dane Swan.On SPS his draft highlights were spectacular, he looked destined for the first pick in his underage year. Just goes to show how difficult drafting can be.
Seems likely he'll go early to either GWS or Suns. They both have bulk mids and few KPDs.Really hope we don't go Gibcus. The more I read the more he just seems like the best of a sh*t crop.
