Thoughts on Josh Rachele, supposedly the best kick in the draft with our first ?

Thought it would be useful to put up a depth list based on our current list. Have removed Astbury Houli & Naish.
Interesting when you look at the list like this, while we've got a good core of established albeit aging stars, you'll also notice that our youth is pretty well spread out, with a new core establishing itself with the likes of Balta Bolton Graham Broad Baker Short D.Rioli Castagna leading the way. (Yes I know not all of them played well this year)
As I've mentioned previously I'm not sure an inside mid is as big a need as everyone suggests as I like the look of Ross RCD Dow & Martyn as a young group coming through along with Graham and Bolton. As I said above some outside class that can deliver the ball inside 50 quickly and accurately would really make a difference to our side moving forward. Also some young KPP talent to develop alongside CCJ Ryan Colina Miller Nyoun would round the list off nicely and give our next era a solid foundation to build from.
Rachele, Personally i think he will end up having the most x factor out of this years draft, However do we go with a more consistant player or a player that may not be as consistant but can turn a game on its headThoughts on Josh Rachele, supposedly the best kick in the draft with our first ?
Nas Wanganeen Milera type then with our second or maybe Mathew Johnson, both with great foot skills ?

I'm suggesting players that are good movers and have great kicking skills as per RT's depth chart with our first rounders. I think Rachele is the best choice for that thenI'm suggesting players that are good movers and have great kicking skills as per RT's depth chart with our first rounders. Arlo Draper would be another with considering on that basis.
Then picking up the best KPF/D we can get with our second rounders.
That depth chart really does get you thinking. We have a bunch of young inside mids, Cotch is still there as are Edwards and Prestia who will be better with a long off season and injury free as well as Graham and Shai and Dusty in there for impact at times too.
Nobody was more frustrated than me about us getting smacked around the ball this year but do we really need more inside mids or do we need guys who can kick into our forward line well more ? Is an inside even going to get games in front of Ross, RCD, Dow and Martin for at least a couple of years ?
Maybe we go for class in this draft and benefit with elite kicks...
If we want to read into it too much he was going to say "we haven't had strong" before cutting himself off and saying we havent had conversations at all, Perhaps we have informally talked to himExcellent interview with Matty Clarke. Very interesting that he hasn't drawn a line through trading in Adam Cerra. Certainly wasn't a no. Although he was cagey he did highlight some players in the draft that he rates.
Great job in putting this together.

Tiger71 stated we would in his trade podcastSounds like we might try and trade up for a top 3-5 pick potentially going off what Clarke said
Where was the interview? Any link?Excellent interview with Matty Clarke. Very interesting that he hasn't drawn a line through trading in Adam Cerra. Certainly wasn't a no. Although he was cagey he did highlight some players in the draft that he rates.
Cheers RT. I suspect Hobbs, Ward and Erasmus might all be gone if we stay with Pick 7 (9). I'd be happy with any of those three just on ability alone. If I was picking now, I think Mathew Johnson would be a solid choice. Sinn worries me with his long hammy. Goater would be a reach inside 10 I think and Chesser I don't know a lot about. He's been injured too. Roberts is just a natural footballer and I'd love him on our team. The midfield types I like in the draft this year, that I believe could be on the board at our picks in R1, are:

All these kids are 180+cm & should be 80+kg once they mature into their bodies once in the system. For a few years now I've wanted us to add the bigger bodied type of midfielder to the list so that we can compete against the likes of Bontempelli Wines Oliver Dunkley etc. Over the last few years we've added Ross RCD Dow(183/77) and Martyn (186/82) who meet that same criteria and IMO if we can add another couple in that style then along with Bolton & Graham I think we'd have a very solid midfield unit to build around.
Rachele is one that I haven't quite taken a liking to for some reason, maybe scars from Ben Lennon where he was a forward who was thought to be able to become a midfielder but never quite kicked on in that regard, however I've come to learn over the past 5 years to back the club in regards to calls they make on recruiting kids and wouldn't be in the slightest bit disappointed if we called his name.
The link is on this page about a dozen back. Post #1079 by Wrenny.Where was the interview? Any link?

Interesting you have Browne on your list. I thought he looked ok in the state game on the weekend, did some nice things. Still only slim but moves well and apparently is pretty tough.
I feel like the range from 5-15 is pretty even this year with the mids. Then there three or four decent KPPs to choose from. It's going to be very interesting which way we go.
Have you rated the KP players ? It's likely Gibcus will be Top 10 but what order do you have them after that ? Do you see Mac Andrew as a KP or a ruckman ?
Unfortunately Lennon at the age of 20yrs was slow as Caddy and Jack are now.......The midfield types I like in the draft this year, that I believe could be on the board at our picks in R1, are:

Yes but how do you get that done?Sounds like we might try and trade up for a top 3-5 pick potentially going off what Clarke said
He mentioned potentially packaging up our first and the Geelong first rounderYes but how do you get that done?
Get a couple of KPD's and release Balta
Is it a concern with Josh Sinn at age 18 had a three month hamstring injury ?
Hmmm Jye Amiss is the one out of this crop that could explode. The way he attacks the footy is pretty sexy.Haha. I’d rather get an actual high quality junior but we could unleash the next Richo.
