Yeah. I would steer clear. He’s an explosive athlete and relies on pace. A hamstring this soon into his career is a worry.

If it was a ping then fair enough but it must have been serious to keep him out for 3 months. I feel for the kid. I guess it will come down to medicals. It might see him slide tho.

He mentioned potentially packaging up our first and the Geelong first rounder
He mentioned Packaging first or second with something else not both. Which clubs pick would we target?
Unless you get pick 2(GWS), you could still miss the player you want.

In a perfect world the best player we could get would seemingly be the fourth ranked player. Daicos, Darcy and presumably Horne-Francis are all locked up. So who is so good that we'd be willing to lose our other first rounder for ? Or perhaps we package Geelong's first with one of our seconds to get up to around Pick 10-12 and get two gun mids ? Bang.

Personally I have it as

Gibcus
Amiss
Williams
Van Rooyen
Bazzo

Ideally if we could trade up into the late teens/early 20s by using the 2 x 3rd round picks and any compo we get for Chol to give us 5 picks inside 30 I'd target a haul of Sinn Chesser Amiss Williams & Van Rooyen. For mine if you add them to the under 100 games group we've currently got I believe it gives us a solid foundation for the next era of success and would then free us up to target the free agency/trade table from 2022 onwards as we see the older guys come to the end of their careers.
Imagine walking away with 3 of the best 5 KPP's in the draft ! There's your spine. Set the club up for a decade.

The way I see the draft "tiers" at the moment - groups of midfielders, with KPP put in the gaps that could go anywhere:

Daicos Darcy (both unavailable)
Horne Callahan
Hobbs Ward Erasmus
Gibcus
Goater Roberts Sinn Rachele (our first pick this range)
Mac Andrew
Sonsie Johnson Draper ( Bulldogs pick around here if we get it)
Amiss
Chesser Wilmot Fahey-GWS Academy (our second pick this range)
Van Rooyen Williams
Butler Long MacDonald Tom Brown Nevitt Wanganeen Judson Clarke ( third pick this range)

(then pretty much everyone else in any order from here on)

Gibcus to pair with balta in the backline for the next 10+ years would be up the top of my wish list!

If we trade up there is really only 1 we go for. Callahan has it all I reckon

Forcing his way into top 10 contention for this year's draft, 190cm midfielder Finn Callaghan was brilliant for Sandringham in their 48-point win against Eastern. Displaying freakish evasion through traffic, Callaghan amassed 31 disposals, 10 contested possessions, seven inside 50s, and four score assists. What was striking with Callaghan was whenever he had ball in hand, there was an immediate sense he was going to make something happen.

He has the speed and agility to move easily around or through opposition numbers, a sharp change of direction, a spin in traffic to avoid tackles, and a timely raise of the arms with ball in hand to avoid a tackle. Callaghan is one of those rare players who not only is quicker than everyone else, but also has more time with ball in hand than others display which makes him so unique and desirable for a player of his height.

At stoppages, Callaghan is more a receiver than a ball-winner, often receiving then bursting for 10 to 15 metres at a time before hitting a target by hand or foot. While Callaghan does his best work in traffic, he is similarly capable on the outside, and his work rate is impressive. In one play, Callaghan received the ball in his defensive 50, disposed of the ball, and worked his way up onto a wing to provide offensive run-on support.

Playing a similar game to Jack Macrae at a similar age, Callaghan will need to continue developing the contested side of his game and as a tackler if he's to reach similar heights, as there were a couple of occasions when he needed to be more aggressive in his attack both on the ball and ball carrier.

Nice summary...that's 30 players there...if Rhett Bazzo isn't inside the first 30 players picked we should pounce because he would be a steal.

lock away three lists spots for long-term projects while it's the running players in need of reinvigoration? Yeah, not happening.

Yeh I was replying to a post where the poster selected two great running players with our first two picks THEN three KPPs. Maybe dont be so lazy and actually do your homework.

Port had 5, 12 & 18
Essendon had 7,8,9

We have 7, maybe 16 or 17, and 26 - all getting pushed back at least 2 picks.
We should get 2 similar as a comparison, which is great, but they both had much better hands to play with.
We could have a crack at the Dogs 1st as they need pts which would give us a similar haul to Port

Ridiculous comment given its the same recruiting team. Don't understand the Jackson hate, the man basically drafted our dynasty. His last draft leading the team was our Shai Bolton pick.
No hate at all, i am just pointing out that since Clarke took over we haven't known about who we are taking till it's announced on the night, which is exactly how it should be. Jackson was in charge when Conca was picked & we knew of that pick days in advance. I liked that Clarke didn't give anything away in his interview. Based on what he said it seems we'll take best available at 7 which i assume will be a mid. The rest is open depending on trade etc with all options to be looked at.

They would be wanting to get to Hobbs or Callaghan before pick 7. Probably pick 2 GWS or Gold Coast pick 3.

We knew about Flossy and I think even Ellis...

T71 said in his last podcast that we were after a mid and a defender with our earlier picks. Gibcus and ??
Cibcus be gone by pick 7.
(7)-Hobbs/Ward/Roberts
(15)-Van Rooyan/Williams/Bazzo
