Champs this year were changed to U19. U20 next year would be good. Give some of these kids a chance to mature more and get some life experience, study, travel (haha) and see what it's like to have a job/part time job. Less entitled brats like Toby Greene. With the talk in recent yrs of increasing the Draft age now would be the best time to consider doing that
I'd like to see them have 12 mths in the real world with real jobs on real wages. You wouldn't be able to mandate that but it'll do them the world of good. Even tho some of them would end up doing the yrs work at their parents company it's still good experience for them.Champs this year were changed to U19. U20 next year would be good. The other advantage is that it may extend careers. Kids are still growing at 17/18 physically and mentally. Right now most players are considered over the hill at 28/29.
Being more mature when they enter the comp is likely to mean they're more ready to go as young men rather than boys. Trying to see this as a positive as there's been plenty of discussion about this in the last few years.
They'll not go into deficit. The Pies will either trade out a player or trade a pick from next year to get the points. Not their first to get the required points They don't want an early pick this year until Daicos has been drafted as it would only be gobbled up in acquiring him. We should offer them our later picks (40 + 44) in this years draft + our first next year for their first next year. They'll end bottom 5.Sounds as though they could go into draft deficit to land him
Allegedly he wasn’t even completely sold on going there as a F/S.
What a shambles

I’m stating the obvious here but if he tests really well at the combine, particular agility / endurance/ skills he could be one that rockets further up the rankings.Yep agreed. He's very classy, tall, strong, genuine mid with very good kicking. Never looks rushed. He'd be a great pick up with our late first rounder if he lasts that long.

If recruiters can tick all those (or at least some) boxes alongside his consistent form then he will be right up there in the top rated mids.
You just think he’s one that has plenty more upside. Looks to have a physique that will add muscle with 2-3 solid preseasons.
He’s a Carlton fanSounds as though they could go into draft deficit to land him

Yeah good comparison is a very smooth mover and finds space in tightI know the comparison is thrown around ad nauseum but he reminds me of Pendlebury a bit. Similar traits on paper at least
Geez.
That's a worry.
Honesty think I'd prefer if we offer up pick 7 for a future 1st
Rather not have limited data on Vic kids.
Crows & Freo might bite.
But what if he turns out to be A miss?Hmmm Jye Amiss is the one out of this crop that could explode. The way he attacks the footy is pretty sexy.
Would be better to give geelong back their 1st rounder and swap it for next year's. They will fall off a cliff.
Pick 7 would need an unbelievable offer to give up IMHO.
Plays for Collingwood and supports CarltonHe’s a Carlton fan![]()

Plays for Carlton and supports Collingwood. Toothless bogan who plays in infinite lossesPlays for Collingwood and supports Carlton
Can’t think of a worse combination
Geelong seemed to be struggling even versus a depleted GWS.
Could we really get their 2022 1st on the cheap??
I suppose they will try and prove the rest of us wrong and say Stewart will be back etc..
I’m pretty sure the club said this as well … you’re correct … we could pick up some gems !!!!Big opportunity to pick up some hidden gems from Victoria this year. I hope it's true that we retained a good recruiting team.
I think they'd be pragmatic enough to do it. Better to get young talent in now than wait until next year.
Demographics are gonna see them fall off a cliff with a splat. By the end of next year they might have the $ to target a free agent.
IMO it'll increase the chance of Vic kids being sliders, given our Draft hand we could afford to use our later picks (2nd 2nd rounder & 2 3rds for example) on those if we really rated them as U16's or whenever they last playedJust because the kids aren't able to play this year, it doesn't mean that the club has no intel on them. Most of the kids will have been watched for a good 4 years as they came through the U16s and while they won't play Champs this year, they did play a number of games this year, including trial games for the Champs as well where they would have gone up against each other. I'm happy to back our recruiters to use the knowledge they have gathered over the last few years to make as informed decisions as possible on the kids.
By trading out of this years draft, like we did last year we're effectively missing 2 years of top end talent being added to the list. That will create a gap in the list in terms of age profile. It might mean that we raid WA & SA for our kids rather than going after Victorian kids, or it could mean that some of the Victorian kids that we didn't think we could get fall into our laps if other sides above us target the SA & WA kids
Same each way it'd seemPlays for Carlton and supports Collingwood. Toothless bogan who plays in infinite losses
Could be a good or a bad thing being disrupted, A super talent could slip through to later aswellWould definitely be open to shifting some of our draft capital to next year. There'll be some good players in this pool no doubt but I'm a bit concerned by having our massive draft year being with such a disrupted cohort
No current season stats available
